No birthdays on my calendar today, however…it is Easter Sunday.
Happy Easter. He is risen.
You will probably see and hear that a lot today. He is risen. He is risen means that Jesus was raised from the dead, and now is with God in heaven. It means He has overcome death as those who believe in Him will have eternal life.
You are all, no doubt, familiar with John 3:16. You are bound to have seen it on signs at ballgames on television or at an “end of the world” movie (or any movie for that matter). John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the foundation of the Christian faith. It’s kind of the day we, as Christians, hang our hat on. Without the resurrection, the belief in God's saving grace and mercy through Jesus is void. When Jesus rose from the dead, he proved his divinity as the Son of God and his works of atonement, redemption, reconciliation, and salvation. The resurrection was a real, physical raising of Jesus’ body from the dead.
While I may still have my own dysfunctional relationship with God, I do have a relationship with him. I believe. I have faith. He is risen.
