Good Morning, Possums and Happy Sunday. I’m cold and I’m turning up my heat. I hope you all are staying warm.

Not much on my calendar today except church online and staying warm. Yesterday afternoon, I attended a the Broadway touring production of Alanis Morrisette’s “Jagged Little Pill”. She had some big hits in the mid 90’s off of her CD of the same name. If fact, a lot of that music was used in the show…and what a show it was. Here is my review.

I do not know if the music was written around the show or the show was written around the music, but either way, it didn’t work. I liked that music in the 90’s, but for me, it doesn’t make for a good show. The music is a little dark and edgy and not what you expect (or want) in a Broadway show.

For many of these performers, it is their first Broadway show. I know they are excited to be one step closer to the main stem. They tried very hard to get me to like it, but it just didn’t happen. The singing was a more like yelling, which is done to project and stay on a note. But the note they were yelling was half a step lower than the one they needed to be on for most of the show.

I feel like I have seen this plot/story before - or something like it. And the choreography was more of a modern dance rave if the dancers were all in synch (at times) and in their street clothes.

By intermission, I was longing for a few jagged little pills to make me forget the first act. And by the end of the show, I wanted to wash them down with with a bottle of cheap vodka.

I went into this show with no expectations and no knowledge of the plot. I left disappointed and questioning why someone thought this was a good idea for a show. Well, they can’t all be Chicago, Avenue Q or Wicked, and for me, this one fell flat. You will get more out of the $12 CD than you will a $45 ticket to this show.
