Coming to you from the Celebrity Suites of the Wyndemere Condominiums in Dallas, Texas, today is Saturday, January 13, 2024. It’s going to be a sunny day with a high of 59. It’s fix’s to get unbearably cold up in here! The high onMonday is 27 degrees with a chance of ice and snow.

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Saturday and Happy Three-Day weekend. It’s gonna be a cold one around here so get ready to bundle up.
I didn’t get around to posting yesterday. I was simply tired and my legs did not want to cooperate. They don’t like the cold weather and the signal traveling from my brain telling them to move either got detoured and is still delayed or it just wasn’t sent. It’s all MS-related I just haven’t had this experience before. I am much better today, thank goodness. I don’t get worried when something like this happens, I get frustrated (mainly because I can’t control it and it messes up my schedule).
I have had some incredibly positive, funny and extremely negative experiences with people this week. My Uber drivers couldn’t have been more helpful getting in and out of their cars as well as loading and unloading my wheelchair. All of them - fantastic.
I had a very funny exchange with an old friend when reconnecting this week. We were going to meet up and he asked, “How does it work with you?” Seriously? I had to bust his balls over that one. I get in an Uber and meet you wherever…that’s how works. We had a good laugh over that but I couldn’t help but wonder, if someone I didn’t know had asked me the exact same question, would I have been offended or would I have reacted the same way?
The negative experience I had really pissed me off. I wanted out of my casa Thursday evening so I decided to meet some friends for Happy Hour. My Uber driver was wonderful. He helped me in and out of his car, into my wheelchair and watched as I made my way to the entrance of Thursday’s watering hole of choice.
Sadly, this establishment is the ABSOLUTE WORST when it comes to accessibility (but I will crack this topic this open on our podcast very soon). As I open the door, which is difficult, I attempt getting over the door threshold and have quite a bit of difficulty. My Uber driver gets out of his car and comes over to help me get inside. I make my way in and look to my left - about seven feet away - and there are four people sitting there watching - not coming over to help, but the watching the entire incident play out. One of them was an employee. There is even a camera outside the door so you can plainly see who is coming through the door.
Now I don’t have or want kids, but come on. My parents raised me to help people that need assistance. And all of my friends have the same behavior instilled in them as well. Is it a generational thing? Is it nature, nurture or just plain common sense and good manners? I was dumbfounded and pissed off. Do I expect too much from people? Even when I got inside and looked over at all of them, they all looked at me like, “what?” You don’t have to be Claire Huxtable, I mean, clairvoyant to figure this one out. But I digress…
Today is the last of the semi-warm days. The temps start dropping this evening. I will be out this afternoon. I am attending (with some some friends) the Broadway touring production of, “Jagged Little Pill.” I have no expectations of this show but a review will follow.
