Hello, Possuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuums! Coming to you from the Celebrity Suites of the Wyndemere Condominiums on Turtle Creek in Dallas, Texas. Today is Wednesday, October 5. It’s going to be a sunny Fall day in Dallas today with a high of 86. No birthdays on my calendar today. Good Morning, Possums and HAPPY HUMP DAY! Yes, it is Wednesday and we have made it have way through the week. That also means we (well, some of us) are one day closer to a three-day weekend. Monday, October 10 is Indigenous People’s Day (formerly or also known as Columbus Day, although I don’t see / hear a lot of people jumping on the Indigenous People's bus, but let’s crack that open another time). Are kids still taught that Christopher Columbus discovered America? I mean - it can be argued that Columbus never discovered anything! There were people already living in the Americas when he arrived. I am not looking for and argument or a debate (regardless of how strong your convictions are) but I, myself, just me lean a bit more towards Indigenous People’s Day which celebrates the aspects of Native American culture and history. Well, my three-day weekend will (more than likely) be spent on my couch recovering from chemotherapy. Tomorrow at 2pm I will get all comfy and cozy in a recliner, cover up with a blanket, grab the remote and find something on tv while poison gets pumped through my veins for four hours in an attempt to tame the inflammation of another monster in my body making ordinary tasks difficult for me to do. You can describe it any way you like, but it is rough. It is not fun. I do not wish it on anyone. And yet, I know how lucky, blessed and maybe even privileged I am to have access to this procedure, this medicine, this comfy and cozy recliner, this blanket and this remote and tv. Many people don’t and if they do, they may not be as comfortable as I will be. The few days after may be rough, but I am still lucky, blessed and yes, maybe even privileged. I started off with Hump Day, transitioned into Columbus Day / Indigenous People’s Day and segued into being lucky, blessed and privileged to receive chemotherapy. I don’t know that I can jump around and change topics any more today so I will end things with Rest in Peace Loretta Lynn - our Coal Miner’s Daughter. What are your plans for today? Anyhoozle, I wish you and everyone around you a SPECTACULAR day. Do everything today with kindness in your heart. The world is full of kind people. If you can’t find one, be one! Peace, Love and Blessings to you all. -AJ
