Happy Labor Day, everyone. I hope you have enjoyed a good weekend. Mine has been quite eventful. I went to lunch and out for as cocktail with some friends after church (that’s not the eventful part) and an enormous thunderstorm blew through Dallas. Buckets and buckets of rain poured down.
When it was finally over, the power was out on my block so I had to wait in the lobby until it came back on (only 30 minutes). But the funny part was the majority of the residents in my building that wandered through the lobby asked me if I was OK or if I needed anything or help up to my condo. All were just so very nice and genuinely concerned…..except for this one older woman.
This woman, was older…much, much older, cranky, grumpy and I got the impression she only responded kindly to anyone as abrasive and aggressive as she was. Well, she marched over to the concierge, shined her flashlight in his face and demanded to know when her power was coming back on. He answered her politely and she grumbled.
Then she heard me in my wheelchair minding my own business and she turned around, shined her flashlight DIRECTLY in my eyes (and I wasn’t that far away from her) and forcefully said, “who are you?” And I replied, “I live here, I am waiting for the power to come back on so I get get up to my condo, please get your flashlight out of my face and who the hell are you?”
She got her flashlight out of my face and headed for the stairwell and didn’t say a word. I am pretty sure we are going to be besties! I also expect the tires on my car to be slit this morning. LOL
So - that was my night. Today, I am relaxing and resting and possibly napping. How about you?
