It’s FRIDAY! Happy FriYAY! TGIF and all that stuff. I have absolutely no plans either….well, accept for a church finance committee meeting tomorrow morning and a church Board meeting on Sunday. It won’t be as relaxing as last weekend, but I will survive - LOL.
I was a big ole hot mess yesterday. My neuropathy was off the charts and my legs did NOT want to cooperate; particularly my left leg. I am much better this morning, but I can tell it’s time for PLEX. I need to get this harmful plasma out of my body / blood and some fresh, frozen plasma flowing through my veins.
My neurologist called yesterday, and today before PLEX begins, they will draw blood to check my lymphocyte levels to see they have risen enough for me to have chemotherapy next week. And, they will draw even more blood to check my fibrinogen levels to see if I actually get the fresh, frozen plasma (thank you to everyone who donated) or the synthetic stuff.
I was looking up and down at my arms yesterday - all of the needle marks, tiny little scabs and scars, you would think I was a heroine addict (just don’t look between my toes - kidding). It tells a story for sure. As many hospital stays, pints of plasma (fresh, frozen and synthetic), blood draws, urinalysis’, chemotherapy treatments, trips to the ER and medications I have taken, for a moment yesterday, I almost felt sad. But then I also remembered I know I still have it better than so many other people with Multiple Sclerosis because of the people around me - near and far.
So today on this Friday, August 12, I designate it as “Thankful Friday”, I want to say THANK YOU - everyone - for helping me get through this. It’s not easy and it’s all unexplainable sometimes and hard for me to explain to you. But you always help me with your thoughts, prayers, positive vibes and good juju.
And that makes all the difference. HAPPY THANKFUL FRIDAY!
