My Life with Multiple Sclerosis 072022

Good Morning, Possums, from the Celebrity Suite of the Wyndemere Condominiums on Turtle Creek in Dallas, Texas. Today is Wednesday, July 20. It’s going to be another scorcher in Dallas today with a high of 109 degrees. Happy Birthday to: Dave Garcia John Dean It’s Hump Day! We made it half way through the week. I love when I start work on Hump Day - LOL Well, one week ago at just about this time (it’s 2:00 am - I have a little insomnia, but last week it was nerves and excitement). I woke up around 2am last Wednesday to polish off a little work before I left on vaycay. I finished it all off around 3am in time to throw a few last minute things in my suitcase, shower, get dressed and head to the airport for our 6:15am flight. There were four of us on this flight. One ‘perk’, if you please, of having a disability is getting through security in the priority line and getting to board the plane first. It did not suck one bit. So, we all boarded, got settled, the plane (Possum Airlines) took off and we began our NYC 2022 Experience with a delicious morning cocktail. The flight attendant told us some good stories about passengers she has had on her flights AND she announced my birthday to the plane. Before you know it we were at LaGuardia Airport. I received Happy Birthday wishes from most everyone as people passed by and made their way off the plane. I had to wait for my wheelchair. Let me just tell you, that HOLE of an airport that was LaGuardia has done a 180. Nicely done, LGA! I'll fly in there anytime. We made our way to baggage claim as did a fifth member of our entourage who flew in from Denver, Colorado on another Possum Air flight. Each of us grabbed our belongings and went outside to be whisked to our hotel in midtown Manhattan in a stretch limo. A few years ago, on our last trip to NYC (before COVID), I rented a limo complete with champagne. We joked that it was the ONLY way to travel from the airport to your hotel, so we did it again this year. I stand by the statement that it is the ONLY way to travel from the airport to your hotel. As we polished off the champagne we arrived at our hotel, checked in early and went to grab lunch. I had sort of planned in my head that if we took an early flight, arrived at noon, checked in and had lunch, there would be time for an afternoon nap before the show that night. There was, and we did. The Broadway show that evening was a play, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.” It picks ups right where the movies left off - 19 years after the war. It used to be two plays, but someone got smart and combined them into one three-hour play. We got to the Lyric Theater a tad early and the staff at this Broadway theater were no slouches. I was taken around back through a special entrance, wheeled to my seat (10th row, center orchestra) with my party, and THEN they opened the house for everyone else to come in. This theater has it down. There are even QR codes on the back of the seat in front of you to scan and order drinks/ snacks/ merchandise to be DELIVERED to you at intermission (or placed in your chair if you have to go to the restroom) - how smart is that? And it’s no additional charge. While it was over three hours, the show itself was great. I hope it gets turned a movie. The acting was on point, the story was believable, but the real winner is the special effects in this show. They are simply amazing. Any true Harry Potter fan must go see this show. On a scale of 1 to 5, one being horrible and 5 being outstanding, I give it 4 and 1/2 possums.

After that, it was back to the hotel and straight to bed. We were all pretty tired and sleepy by then. A TERRIFIC first day of vavcation. Hard to believe that was one week ago. Today, it’s back to work and check on how the launch of my project went and I have an appointment this afternoon with my neurologist. I am anxious to find out the results of my MRI and discuss my continuing Chemotherapy treatments and medications. Anyhoozle, what’s your Wednesday like? I wish you and everyone around you a SPECTACULAR day. Do everything today with kindness in your heart. The world is full of nice people. If you can’t find one, be one! Peace, Love and Blessings to you all. -AJ
