Good Morning, Possums, from the Celebrity Suite of the Wyndemere Condominiums on Turtle Creek. Today is Monday, April 11. It’s going to be a mostly cloudy day today with a high of 89. We may even get some thunderstorms this evening.
Happy Birthday to:
Sherry Spooner-Finney
I am up a little earlier than usual today - anxiety / nerves about getting the catheter out of my chest and a permanent (for now) port put in. It’s a simple enough procedure (so I’m told) but still - be at the hospital at 7am, no food or drink after midnight, do not be late, procedure at 9am and hopefully home by 12pm / 1pm.
I heard from my neurologist last night. She had reviewed the results of my MRI(s) and wanted to let me know (because she is awesome like that). I have never had a doctor email me on a Sunday.
We established at my last appointment with her that after breaking through three treatments (Aubagio, Ocrevus, Mavenclad), I am absolutely, positively her problem child. I wear that mantle with honor and a great deal of frustration - not with her, but with multiple sclerosis. It would be a lot easier if MS attacked everyone the same way - if we all had the same symptoms, but that is not how it works. While it does not discriminate who it attacks (and it is NOT genetic), everyone’s MS is different.
My MRI showed there are NO NEW LESIONS on my brain, neck or spinal cord. This is good news. It means the Mavenclad (my treatment) is working. I have one more round of it in August and September. However, some of the lesions on my brain and on my spinal cord are active - my spinal cord is (apparently) lit up like a Christmas tree. This is what is causing the worsening of my symptoms.
So, for starters, my neurologist is going to reach out to the PLEX team today to see if we can get a few sessions set up close together to see if we can calm things down. If it does not work, we will take it from there.
After I did my research (Google search and Web Md), I agree with this course of action to start but would also add three to five days of high octane steroids (Solumedrol). Unfortunately, this would require a hospital stay. Sadly, I am not a doctor. I just play one on TV. LOL
So - onward we go. Eyes, toes, fingers, legs and arms are crossed - we are going to find something that will work! We are ABSOLUTELY going to find something to work. #keepingthefaith
What’s on your schedule today?
Anyhoozle, I wish you all a SPECTACULAR day. Make it a great day and do everything today with kindness in your heart. The world is full of kind people. Be one of them! And as always:
...wear a mask (when appropriate)
...be kind and compassionate to one another
...dance/sing/laugh it out. It might not help but it sure as hell couldn't hurt.
Peace, Love and Blessings to you all. -AJ
