It’s Friday Eve. The weekend is almost here and I, for one, am pretty happy about that. It’s going to be a warm, sunny day in Big D with a high of 66….and then things will begin to get ugly from there but just for the night.
I am still a little tired from yesterdays events. It was a good day - starting with my trip to the office. I have space downtown at HQ. It’s a nice corner space with a view and around part of my team that I rarely get to see in person. And it’s only 1.5 miles from my casa. I had a few meetings before we had a full team meeting/lunch and it was very nice to finally have everyone together.
I really should have done a trial run - getting ready, packing up, loading my chair and driving there, unpacking my chair and getting to the office - I did it with no issues - but putting it all together was nothing short of exhausting. The one thing that is a little disconcerting is….I can go to work and get to the door of my department, but it is not accessible. LOL. I am in HR. Same with the restroom.
People went out of their way to assist me (not in the bathroom) but that cannot happen every day. My (wheel) chair was the right move. No way I would have made it with my walker.
I left work around 1:30pm and rushed home to meet Sallie Ann who went with me to my neurologists appointment. We got there and were ushered into a room rather quickly (OK by me). We waited patiently for my doctor and she finally arrived.
We chit-chatted and first things first - she showed (I asked to see) pics of her kid - she had a little boy last September - then we got down to business.
It was a very positive appointment. The main things we took away are:
...I have not necessarily failed Mavenclad (my treatment medication). I am only half way through the program. My last two doses are in August and September. So, I am staying with that for now.
...In the meantime, she called down to check on the stem cell study. She is doing everything she can to get me in it. They just started signing people up from all over the country and she said I should absolutely qualify. If I get into this study, I will stop my Mavenclad.
Say a prayer or two people. I need in that study.
This is a study and not a trial. A trial involves people getting placebos. However, in a study you actually get the stem cells - no placebos. The process to retrieve your stem cells is not necessarily a pleasant one, but I could give a rat’s behind. Knock me out. Drill into my bone(s). Take the marrow and let’s have at it.
...She said that everyone has problem child / patient…..Happily, I am hers and she is taking very good care of me. I will see her again in August but she wants me to keep her regularly posted until then.
...And finally, I am to continue my PLEX for the foreseeable future. It’s not a bad thing, but I really want to be included in that stem cell study. So, if you need me on a Friday afternoon, I will be at the UT Southwestern Spa and Resort.
In the meantime, I need your help. Please consider sponsoring me in the Dallas (Frisco) MS Walk for a cure. Currently, and thanks to you and your generosity, I have raised $7275; only $2725 to go. I am over 70% of the way to my $10,000 goal, and only 9 days to get there.
To everyone who has donated, THANK YOU. If you have not, please consider a donation.. Help me reach my goal. Support me and make a donation to the Dallas MS Walk by clicking the link below.
Check to see if your company will match your donation as well.

Sorry - it’s a bit of a long post but I am documenting my journey for me and for anyone else who may be on a similar path and for those supporting us along the way.
We are #MSWARRIORS
Today I have a few meetings and then I am volunteering at the clinic this afternoon / evening. Also, I am still ready for the weekend!
What do you have planned today?
Anyhoozle, I hope you all have a wonderful day and whatever you do today and every day, do it with kindness in your heart. The world is full of kind people. If you can’t find one, be one! And as always:
...wear a mask when appropriate (CDC says they may not be necessary anymore - stay tuned)
...be kind and compassionate to one another
...dance/sing/laugh it out. It might not help but it sure as hell couldn't hurt.
Peace, Love and Blessings to you all. -AJ
