Good Morning, Possums, from the Celebrity Suite of the Wyndemere Condominiums on Turtle Creek. Today is Saturday, February 5.
No birthdays on my calendar today.
It’s the weekend. Even with the snow and ice for the last two days I am glad it is Saturday. It a nice, sunny day inBig D with a high of 48 degrees. That should melt away the remnants of the last two days.
Today is also another day that will stick in my head for a while. Three years ago today, on February 6, 2019 at 2:30pm, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. (February 6 was on a Wednesday in 2019).
Everything was A-OK for the first 14 months, but then things started going downhill. My walking went from a limp, to using a cane, to using a walker, to using a wheelchair. The wheelchair is only for extended periods away from home. I have gone from taking one pill daily to taking 18 pills every day. And Fridays have gone from leaving work a tad early to meet my friends at happy hour to lying in a hospital bed having my plasma exchanged because the plasma my body makes makes my life very difficult.
Am I looking for pity? No! Attention? No! But I am sharing my journey and experiences with MS in case there is someone else out there with MS reading this that knows they are not alone. We are MS Warriors.
It’s time for the MS Walk 2022. Next Sunday I will begin raising money to fight this debilitating disease. Last year, my goal was $1000 but I ended up raising almost $12,000. I was the #1 fundraiser in Dallas/Fort Worth and the 42nd (or something like that) in the country (not to brag).
Links will be on my Facebook page to make your donations. I hope I can count on your support. I have already received a very generous donation of over $1000 to kick off my campaign. Thank you Matt Roush and Holly Frontier Corporation.
I don’t wish this on anyone. But I do wish that anyone who has it - I wish they have the support system I have - parents, family, friends, churches, doctors, nurses - I am hooked up with the best.
What’s on your schedule today?
Anyhoozle, I hope you all have a wonderful day and whatever you do today and every day, do it with kindness in your heart. The world is full of kind people. If you can’t find one, be one! And as always:
...wear a mask
...be kind and compassionate to one another
...dance/sing/laugh it out. It might not help but it sure as hell couldn't hurt.
Peace, Love and Blessings to you all. -AJ
