My Life with Multiple Sclerosis 011422

Good Morning, Possums, from the Celebrity Suite of the Wyndemere Condominiums on Turtle Creek. Today is Friday, January 14.

Happy Birthday to:

David Syke
Karen Stewart Smith
LaVerne Spoon
Shannon Wilmoth
Michael McCray

It’s Friday and the beginning of a 3-day weekend. Its going to be a partly cloudy day in Big D with a high of 72 - not too bad. I don’t have a whole lot on my plate today - just a few meetings, physical therapy and everyone’s favorite Friday afternoon treat….. Plasma Exchange!

Yes, don’t be jealous that I get to spend 2 or 3 hours in a hospital bed while a giant, human-sized slurpee machine draws the blood from my body, spins it to separate out the plasma, replaces it with fresh, frozen, human plasma, spins it all back together, heats it up and puts it back in my body.

AND, I get all the juice, sodas, crackers, pillows and warm blankets I want while I watch horrible day time TV. Actually, those warm blankets are EVERYTHING and they have added On Demand movies to their TV selection. Gosh, it’s sad that I am that familiar with this hospital’s TV selection.

It’s really not bad. The staff at the hospital in the aphaeresis clinic are great and are like family at this point (sad as that may sound) and they take excellent care of me. It’s not the way I would normally want to start off a 3-day weekend, but for the time being, it’s my new normal and it could be a hell of a lot worse.

Also, afterwards I am going to Happy Hour and have a Ranch Water (not the nasty stuff in a can - the real ranch water) before the exhaustion of the plasma exchange sets in and I fall asleep until tomorrow. My weekend will have begun and my journey with multiple sclerosis continues.

What’s on your schedule today?

Anyhoozle, I hope you all have a wonderful day and whatever you do today and every day, do it with kindness in your heart. The world is full of kind people. If you can’t find one, be one! And as always:

...wear a mask
...be kind and compassionate to one another
...dance/sing/laugh it out. It might not help but it sure as hell couldn't hurt.

Peace, Love and Blessings to you all. -AJ
