Today is National Roof Over Your Head Day. It was created as a day to be thankful for what you have, starting with the roof over your head. There are many things that we have that we take for granted and do not stop to appreciate how fortunate we are for having them.
All across our nation (and the world), there are many that do not have the things that are necessary for everyday life. They may lack a roof over their heads, enough food to eat, or clothes to wear. For those who have those bare necessities, it may be insufficient.
The day reminds us to appreciate what we have. It follows closely after Thanksgiving, a day to be thankful. So just like Thanksgiving, be thankful for what you do have and always remember, that it is a better feeling than worrying about what you do not have.
Happy National Roof Over Your Head Day!
Happy Friday and Happy Weekend as well. It is going to be a partly cloudy, warm day in Dallas today. It has been a long week but the weekend is finally here. I will be heading to the UT Southwestern Spa and Resort (hospital) for plasma exchange (PLEX) #3 of 5 in a few hours.
Yesterday, I met with my neurologist’s assistant. She switched up my meds a tiny bit and she scheduled an MRI for mid-January. If the MRI shows increased activity (new inflammation and lesions) and it looks like my treatment is not working, then it’s on to the stem cell study.
In order to get into the stem cell study, you have to show that your body has failed to positively react to two DMT’s (Disease Modifying Therapies). Mavenclad is my second DMT - Ocrevus was my first.
She also said that it takes Mavenclad time to work. So the DMT I finished in September may not have finished doing what it is supposed to do - time will tell. Plus, I am scheduled for round two of Mavenclad in August 2022.
Tomorrow I am getting a mani / pedi followed by a trip to the Boardroom (hair and beard). I think the medicine I am on makes my hair and my nails grow faster. That’s fine and all but it messes with my every-three-weeks schedule (I’m a little OCD as well).
Sunday, I have church and my softball team(s) holiday party. Next week, I work Monday and Tuesday and that’s it for 2021. I also need to do some serious Christmas shopping or everybody is going to be getting gift cards.
So - busy weekend for me. What about you? What's on your schedule?
Anyhoozle, I hope you all have a wonderful day and whatever you do today and every day, do it with kindness in your heart. The world is full of kind people. If you can’t find one, be one! And as always:
...wear a mask
...be kind and compassionate to one another
...dance/sing/laugh it out. It might not help but it sure as hell couldn't hurt.
Peace, Love and Blessings to you all. -AJ
