National Donut Day (also known as National Doughnut Day) on November 5th is one of two observed by donut lovers across the nation. The first Friday in June is the other day donuts steal the bakery case spotlight ready to tease their way into a bakery box and head to your home to be enjoyed - unless they are hot and fresh and they get eaten in the parking lot. I hear that happens sometimes. A friend told me.
Donuts come in a large variety of recipes, flavors and toppings. However, just like many pastries, we are only limited by imagination and the ingredients at hand. Jellies and sprinkles and custards - top them, fill them, bake them and fry them. Donuts have a mouth-watering way of glazing and dusting their way into our hearts and our shopping carts. They also slip into the break room at work to share.
Happy National Donut / Doughnut Day!
It’s finally Friday - Happy Friday and Happy Weekend. It’s going to be a sunny day in Big D with a high of 60 degrees. I am enjoying a day off work and hope that the stress and urgency of this week is behind me - though I probably just jinxed myself.
In a few hours, I will be headed to the UT Southwestern Spa and Resort (hospital) for my warm blanket………and three liters of their finest plasma to replace the toxic plasma my body produces. Why my body waited 54 years to incite a war against itself is beyond me. After that, I will probably come home and crash. Plasma exchange wipes me out.
I see that the 'powers that be' have chosen their Elphaba and Glinda for the movie version of the musical, Wicked. They got it half-right. Their choice for Elphaba is great - Cynthina Erivo. Sadly, their choice for Glinda just proves (in my opinion) they are only after money and not a quality film. They chose Ariana Grande! I'm sure she is a delightful person, bless her heart, but I would rather see a house plant in that role.
No big plans this weekend (except for church on Sunday) and that is fine with me. I’m going to play it by ear and see what comes up.
What is on your schedule today / this weekend?
Anyhoozle, I hope you all have a wonderful day and whatever you do today and every day, do it with kindness in your heart. The world is full of kind people. If you can’t find one, be one! And as always:
...wear a mask
...be kind and compassionate to one another
...dance/sing/laugh it out. It might not help but it sure as hell couldn't hurt.
Peace, Love and Blessings to you all. -AJ
