Good Morning from the Celebrity Suite of the Wyndemere Condominiums on Turtle Creek. Today is Wednesday, September 22. Happy Hump Day and today is also the Autumnal Equinox.
Happy Birthday to:
The Autumnal Equinox in September ushers in a change of season. It is observed annually when the sun can be seen directly overhead along the equator. The day marks the end of summer and beginning of fall in the Northern Hemisphere.
The autumn equinox is one of two days when all points on Earth except the polar regions see the sunrise and set at due east and due west. With few exceptions, all latitudes see almost precisely 12 hours of daylight and 12 of darkness.
While the United States marks the official end of summer at Labor Day, the seasons mark time differently. Depending on where we live, the trees and animals behave differently based on the amount of sunlight they receive. By the time the equinox arrives in September, the leaves in many parts of the country have already begun to change.
The air at night will be crisper. Why it’s going to be down right freezing in Big D today. The high temperature is 82 degrees. I can hear a few of my friends now - I know they are anxious, itching and chomping at the bit to pack away their summer wardrobes and stock their closet shelves with earth-tone colored clothes- including long sleeves and sweaters.
Pumpkin Spice everything will pop up everywhere (if it hasn’t already) in coffee shops, restaurants and sports and entertainment venues. Holiday decorations can officially go up in stores (if they haven’t already) without being mocked nearly as much as they would if they had gone up last week. Mind you, Halloween, Thanksgiving, President’s Day and Veteran’s Day will have a section in the back of the stores - well, not-so-much President’s or Veteran’s Day, but I am sure they will all be represented equally - just ask a store employee put down their cell phone and pumpkin spiced latte and assist you.
HAPPY AUTUMNAL EQUINOX!
Only a few meetings on my calendar today - maybe I can get some actual work done. (I probably just jinxed myself). I have physical therapy this morning.
OMG - I just heard on the news that Willie Garson (“Stanford” in Sex and the City and “Mozzie” in White Collar) has passed away after a battle with cancer. RIP Stanford / Willie - #CancerSucks
Anyhoozle, I hope you all have a wonderful day and whatever you do today and every day, do it with kindness in your heart. The world is full of kind people. If you can’t find one, be one! And as always:
...wear a mask
...be kind and compassionate to one another
...dance/sing/laugh it out. It might not help but it sure as hell couldn't hurt.
Peace, Love and Blessings to you all. -AJ
