Good Morning, Possums. Happy Friday and Happy Weekend. Are you ready for another rainy weekend?
I will be heading to the hospital around 12:30pm for my plasma exchange (PLEX). They really have it down to a T. It used to take all afternoon, but now, I’m in and out in a few hours (or less). And I typically sleep through the entire thing.
That’s all I got today. No plans (that I know of) for the weekend either.

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Friday Eve. Is everyone ready for the weekend? It seems as though we just had one (to me). This has gooney quickly.
It has been eventful here. My lack of posting has been a direct result of a nasty little bug I picked up somewhere. I had a headache for a few days and my body is weak and achy but all is well now…except for the multiple sclerosis. I cannot seem to get rid of it! LOL (thanks, I’ll be here all week).
I am grateful that my assistant, Viola comes today. We are going to cook and meal prep this morning, go for a walk (if my legs will cooperate)and then…hook me up to that infernal machine to strengthen my veins and help the faulty artery pump my heart my heart. It’s not as glamorous as it sounds.
After all of that I have a Board of Directors meeting this evening. So - a busy day for me.
I am already dreading my MRI a week from this Saturday. I am going to do it with no drugs again to make sure that I do not wiggle around. I do nit want to have to repeat the procedure.

Good Afternoon, Possums and Happy Monday. I hope your day has started off GREAT!
Well, how have you been? Busy here. My lack of posting has been a direct result of a faulty modem or router or one of those cable equipment things. My wireless network has been wonky for a week or so until the cable company could get here and update my equipment. But everything seems to finally be working again.
Last Wednesday evening I saw Kathy Griffin (her PTSD tour) and as usual, she was hilarious. Like her or not (I think she is great), she put on a hell of a show only having to stop the show once (about 15 minutes in) because someone’s having a stroke (or so it seemed). The paramedics arrived immediately and got the individual to a hospital only to find out from Kathy Griffin that the person had taken a few too many gummies….way to dose yourself, genius.
This weekend was good and quiet. It rained like a beast all day Saturday so, yes, I got in a great nap. Sunday, I spent the afternoon with friends running around Dallas.
This week is not too busy. We are recording episode 12 of our podcast this evening. I will spend tomorrow editing, Board of Directors meeting Thursday and plasma exchange on Friday. That’s it for me.
Next week, the only thing I have is my mid-year MRI. That’s enough.

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Tuesday. I hope your day has started off GREAT!
Lots going on today. Doctor appointment, a trip to the grocery store and the Board Room, a Board of Directors committee meeting and I’ve got to edit Podcast #11 which we recorded last night. For me, this is a full day. My house cleaner comes at 9am so when I get back from running all these errands, my house will be clean and it will smell like peppermint. I’m OK with that.
It’s time to start planning summer trips. I’m only going on one - and that’s home for a few weeks. My assistant and I are coordinating trips so we go invocation at the same time. Hopefully we will have that figured out today.

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Monday. Time to kick off another work week.
It has been nonstop around here for a few weeks - appointments, meetings, events, therapies and this week is no exception.
Saturday, I walked (rolled) in the Dallas MS Walk for a Cure with several friends showing their support for me. At the same time my neighborhood back home is also walked to support me as well as my church. I couldn’t be more thankful and grateful and I felt all of the love and support.
I was surprised when we arrived at the Walk to find out their was a Top Fundraisers tent and I had a table reserved for me and my team as well as a banner with my name and the amount I raised on it (see pics below). It was very nice and unexpected.

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Friday Eve. It’s almost the weekend.
It has been non-stop around here. We recorded our podcast on Monday - after that, I was wiped out (given the previous five days of activities). On Tuesday, my body had enough and just shut down. I slept on and off all day. It was great.
Today I have physical/occupational therapy, leg therapy and then this evening we have a show - the Broadway touring production of, “Girl From the North Country”. It opened on Broadway right before the pandemic and didn’t last too long because everything shut down. It is a musical set to songs of Bob Dylan (which worries me). Stay tuned for a review on our podcast on next week.

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Monday. Time to kick off a new work week.
The population the Dallas/Fort With Metroplex has grown by half a million people this week, It’s my understanding that the impending eclipse has drawn people to town. It is rather exciting. I hope everyone got their eclipse sunglasses and are ready for the show. I just hope the clouds don’t deny us the opportunity to see everything.
Last week, I said I had six days of stuff - well I was wrong, make it 11 days of stuff, I have more appointments and meetings and a few social activities thrown in the mix this week as well.
The Resource Center fundraiser on Saturday night was a lot of fun. Everyone was dressed up - the glitz and glamour was on full display as we walked the red carpet into the event.
Yesterday evening, we ventured to the AT&T Performing Arts Center for an evening with Kristin Chenoweth which was absolutely wonderful. It’s hard to believe that a voice that big can come out of someone so petite - absolutely stunning. An added plus, she has ‘perfect pitch’ so 99.9% of the noted she sings are on key! LOL
This week is filled with recording episode #10 of our podcast, a visit with the ‘vein’ doctor to check my legs, physical/occupational therapy, plasma exchange, a musical on Thursday (part of our season package) - and on Saturday, the MS Walk for a cure. I have a team of around 10 or so walking with me (plus all the other hundreds of people at the walk). I also have a whole neighborhood (plus some extended friends and family) walking for me back home in South Carolina. They fill me with love and give me strength year round.
So, another busy week - I better get cracking!

It’s been a busy two days but absolutely fun and engaging and productive. It almost feel like I have my old life back (I know I don’t) - before the disease (that’s for @Shannon Brown ). However, embracing my ever-changing disease is like playing a different version of Monopoly called “Monopoly but you have Multiple Sclerosis”. Spaces on the board include “Go have a plasma exchange”, “Go have an MRI”, “You got your Tax refund, collect $$$ (FYI, I haven’t gotten my tax refund yet), “You showered in record time, you deserve a cocktail”, “You took your pills on time, you deserve another cocktail”, “You are finding your footing with Podcasts, take a nap”, “You made it to all of your Board Committee meetings, enjoy a night out with your friends” and the dreaded “Social Security is still dragging their ass, you have to eat Tuna Helper again (I don’t really have to do that).
OK, I don’t reward myself with cocktails and I don’t eat Tuna Helper, but Social Security is dragging their ass. And each day is very much like a roll of the dice. I never know how I am going to accomplish my daily tasks, if it’s going to be a completely frustrating day or a very good day with no hurdles or hoops to jump through.
This evening, we (my friends and I) are headed to “Toast to Life” - the Resource Center’s Annual fundraising event. The theme is “On the Red Carpet”. Since we started the podcast and I have been recognized for “hosting said podcast” in public one time by someone I know, yes, I do feel like a celebrity - LOL.
People will be dressed to the nine’s in all of their glitz and glamour. I am dressing for comfort rather than appearance. You can do that when you’re in a wheelchair. However, my shirt is a polo covered (within an inch of its life) in black sequins. I guess I’ll have a little glitz.

OK, I don’t reward myself with cocktails and I don’t eat Tuna Helper, but Social Security is dragging their ass. And each day is very much like a roll of the dice. I never know how I am going to accomplish my daily tasks, if it’s going to be a completely frustrating day or a very good day with no hurdles or hoops to jump through.
This evening, we (my friends and I) are headed to “Toast to Life” - the Resource Center’s Annual fundraising event. The theme is “On the Red Carpet”. Since we started the podcast and I have been recognized for “hosting said podcast” in public one time by someone I know, yes, I do feel like a celebrity - LOL.
People will be dressed to the nine’s in all of their glitz and glamour. I am dressing for comfort rather than appearance. You can do that when you’re in a wheelchair. However, my shirt is a polo covered (within an inch of its life) in black sequins. I guess I’ll have a little glitz.

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Friday Eve. The weekend approacheth,
I’m gearing up for a busy next few days. I have something to do every day for the next six days. That may seem trivial to some but it excites me to no end. My life before being diagnosed with MS is rearing its beautiful, socially-engaging self and I welcome it with open arms. I may sleep for three days when it’s over and done, but I am OK with that too.
I really got a one-two punch when you think about it. First MS and then immediately after that diagnosis, along comes the covid pandemic. I felt doomed from the diagnosis and then alone from the pandemic. Not a good, encouraging or healthy combination. Each day was an internal struggle to punch MS in the throat and retain a positive mindset that I can do this. I also had my outward struggle to shower, get dressed, clean my condo and stay in touch with every one and work. Luckily I have an unimaginable support system in my family and friends-who-are family that made every day a ‘winning’ day.
The pandemic has come and gone (I think) but the diagnosis remains. The inside and outside struggles still present themselves daily and I will still face them head on with their defeat in my direct line of sight. I am engulfed in positivity because I have things to do and events to go to every day for the next six days: birthdays, fundraisers, podcasts, therapies (physical and occupational) and concerts. I am busy. I am in my happy place. Multiple Sclerosis be damned.

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Wednesday and Happy Hump Day. We made it half way through the week.
I took a brief respite from posting. It has been busy so far - prepping for the return of our podcast on Monday (episode 10) physical and occupation therapy, meetings, fundraising - I’m exhausted - LOL. I know some people may think that because I am not working I have a lot of free time on my hands. That’s not really the case.
Having MS and all that it encompasses is, itself, a full time job. The doctor appointments, therapies, daily exercises, attempting/trying/learning to walk again, travel time - it all adds up to one big time suck.
But it’s not All Ms - All The Time either. There is a lot of fun events coming up this weekend including the Toast to Life. This annual party celebrates life, diversity, and inclusivity, all while raising essential funds to support the vital programs and services provided by Resource Center. The theme this year is “On the Red Carpet”.
Also this weekend is An Evening with Kristin Chenoweth. This Emmy and Tony Award winning actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth’s career spans film, television, voiceover and stage. Most people know her fromTony-nominated original role of Glinda the Good Witch in “Wicked”.
After all that, it’s time to start another week -LOL!
