Good Morning, Possums and Happy Sunday. Happy Easter. He is risen.
It is Easter Sunday. The Easter Bunny has come and gone, but more importantly, Christ has risen. After Jesus was crucified on the Friday his body was taken down from the cross and buried in a cave tomb. The tomb was guarded by Roman soldiers and an enormous stone was put over the entrance. On Sunday Mary Magdalene and some of Jesus's disciples visited the tomb. The stone was rolled away and Jesus’ body was gone.
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the foundation of the Christian faith. It’s kind of the day we, as Christians, hang our hat on. Without the resurrection, the belief in God's saving grace and mercy through Jesus is void. When Jesus rose from the dead, he proved his divinity as the Son of God and his works of atonement, redemption, reconciliation, and salvation. The resurrection was a real, physical raising of Jesus’ body from the dead.
While I may still have my own dysfunctional relationship with God, I do have a relationship with him. I believe. I have faith. He is risen.
