Good Morning, Possums and Happy Sunday and Happy NewYears Eve. It is the end 2023. Time to reflect on the year we just completed and look forward to the year ahead. Most f 2023 seems like a blur to me the with exception of the last four months of the year.
The toughest things for me in 2023 were having another MS flare, shingles, losing my job, having people come into my home weekly to help me regain my independence.applying for disability.
The best things about 2023 were losing, my job, going to NYC at Christmas withy friends, having a reunion with 4-time Tony award nominee and singing voice of Disney’s Pocahontas, Judy Kuhn, planning podcast withy friends and getting to spend an insane amount 0f time with my family and friends inSC this year - especially memo and dad. I am not sure how ZI ended up their kid, but I thank God every single day that they are my parents.
As for 2024, I don’t have any resolutions, but I do have some things I want to conquer/achieve:
-Launch a successful podcast withy friends
-Don’t wait for things to happen; make them happen
-Get my MS under control. Manage it instead of it managing me.
-Help my softball team with fundraIsing
-Take on a larger role on the ISF Board of Directors
-Raise $15,000 for the MS: Walk for a cure
-Get home more often
-Enjoy the upcoming year of theater
-Be a great friend
-Get up when I fall down
-Walk again
-Love life
-Get a hair cut and lose 900 pounds
I know that is a lot, but let’s see what happens.

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Saturday and Happy Weekend. Well, I am all packed and ready to head back to head back to my Dallas home. I have a week full of appointments and that dreaded MRU do-over next Saturday. At least I have a few days to unpack and get settled when I return. Also, it will be nice to return to Central time, or as I like to call it, God’s time.

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Friday and Happy Weekend. And it’s not just any weekend, but New Years weekend. I can only imagine the party planning and preparations going on, the revelers warming up to ring in the new year and the champagne being chilled.
My time here on Creekwood has come to an end and I need to get back to my Dallas home, kick off 2024 by hitting the ground running. I have appointments every day next week, except for Monday. It’s time for another round of plasma exchange too - my legs are screaming at me. Still, I am leaving in the best shape I have been in in four or five months.
As for today, I’ll do a little laundry this morning and pack this afternoon. The whole family is coming over for dinner tonight so I’ll et to see my Sweet Angel, Clara, one more time.
If everything goes as planned, I should take off tomorrow around 10am and arrive in Dallas at 12:25pm. I shall return to Creekwood this summer (or maybe even this spring) - it just depends on how things play out.
Farewell, Creekwood - the best neighborhood with the best people. I’ll see you again soon.,

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Thursday. It is almost the weekend again and my days on Creekwood are numbered. Three weeks sure has gone by quickly. But what a wonderful three weeks it has been. It’s the only place I want to be at Christmas.
But in 48 short hours I will be on my way back to Dallas to get settled at home and (hopefully) create some sort routine or schedule for myself. I have been in limbo for so long (4 months) with shingles and an MS flare up that my sense of days and time is a little off-kilter.
Thank goodness this last shingle is almost healed. It was the biggest and the worst one. It is still painful at times but it is almost gone. AGAIN: If you are over 50, check with your doctor and go get your shingles vaccinations - two shots. Just do it. Oh, and your flu shot too.
I was diagnosed with MS five years ago, but the last four years have been a huge struggle for me (and my friends and family). In my mind, I feel like I should be angry - cheated - robbed of my life - mad at God (and trust me, we have had words - still do). But instead, I feel nothing but blessed, thankful and loved. It makes no sense in my head, but my heart is content.
Also, I’m craving some good TexMex and a margarita so I need get back to Dallas! I miss my friends (who are family) as well. I have hardly gotten to spend any time with them since Labor Day weekend.

Coming to you from the Celebrity Neighborhood of Creekwood in York, South Carolina. Today is Wednesday, December 27. It’s going to be a cloudy day with a high of 62.
No birthdays on my calendar today.
Good Morning, Possums and Happy Wednesday. It doesn’t feel like Hump day, but here we are. Christmas has been packed up. There are a few tiny traces of it here and there, but even that will be gone soon as well. I LOVE IT! It’s time to prepare for 2024. I have no idea what it holds store, but I think there is some good stuff coming, other than the fact I will be approaching 50 years old. Granted, I’ll be approaching it from the wrong direction, but still…
And it’s resolution time! I’m not really one for making new years resolutions. For me, they typically go in one year and out the other. (Thank you. I’ll be here all week). 2023 has been a rough year (for me) even though I did manage to stay out of the hospital for an entire year. And though there have also been countless great moments and experiences, I would still consider suing 2023 for pain and suffering if I could. Instead, I’ll just stick to prayer rather than making resolutions so I pray to God for a fat bank account and a thin body 2024 and ask that he not get them mixed up like he did in 2023.
Not much on the books today. It may be a quiet day and that’s OK. We shall see.

Happy Birthday to:

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Tuesday. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and have recovered from all of the family fun and excitement yesterday. Only 365 days until next Christmas…or 366? Is 2024 a leap year?
We had a wonderful day starting with a big breakfast, then presents and more food. I’m still stuffed. Today is a different story. Christmas is fine and dandy through December 25th. On December 26th, it goes away - back in the bo - all of the holiday decor - until next year\ - so we will be returning the house to its former state later this morning.
Since my mind has started cranking out things to do upon my return to Dallas on Saturday (my home health worker did a great job of cleaning out my fridge before I left (it’s empty)), I went ahead and put in my grocery order/delivery for Saturday evening. I know, I know but I can cross that off my list now. I also made an appointment at the Boardroom on Sunday to get my hairs (both of them) and beard under control.
I did a standing test yesterday afternoon -just to see how long I could stand up. In physical they stop at one minute, but I stood for over two minutes. That’s an exceptionally long time for me given the past four months. This gives me hope. I feel some walking and step-taking coming on (gradually). Physical therapy starts on 1/3/24.

Twas the night before Christmas.and all through this house
not a creature was a stirring except for me
because of those damn steroids. Only three more of them to take and then I’m back to my normal dosage.
Good Morning, Possums and Happy Sunday and Happy Christmas Eve. It’s hard to believe Christmas Day is tomorrow.
Well, yesterday was full of family and food all day. We had a wonderful visit with my cousin and her hubby. It was great but I was tired when the day ended. Today will be more of the same -church, family, food and church again tonight - Christmas Eve service. Mom and I have a little cooking to do as well - a little brekky-prep for tomorrow but that’s it! I may need/try to sneak in a nap.
I cannot blame the steroids entirelyfor keeping me awake. The last few days my mind has been racing with things I need to do upon my return to Dallas,. I need to start making lists: A Medical List, A Podcast List, A Volunteer List and then squeeze it all on to one calendar. I feel stronger and I feel like I’m slowly getting my life back. I have an overwhelming urge to organize and manage something or somethings (I have a sickness). I’ll need to start with organizing something small like a raffle and work my way up to something big like the Emmy’s, the Oscars or the Tony’s. Organize, hell -I’m gonna Co-host with Judy Kuhn. But I digress…Those shingles really smacked me down (and I think there was a little MS flare up in the mix too) but I think I each day I am getting closer to returning to my health baseline. It’s been a hot minute, possums.

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Saturday and Happy Christmas Eve Eve. It’s hard to believe Christmas Day is just two days away. Are you done with your shopping and wrapping and cooking and whatnot?
Also, it is officially Winter and the days are now getting longer. Sure, you can’t tell right away, but you will soon enough. On Sunday, March 10, 2024 we can move our clocks forward one hour and we will really able to tell. I’m not really a fan of daylight savings time
Last night, we went to dinner with our neighborhood friends and had a great time. Is at with my best friend of 54 years…that’s right, 54 years -and we caught up and laughed and had a great time.
Today, my niece and nephew are cooking lunch for everyone are and my cousin and her hubby are coming as well. It’s going to be a day of food, family, friends and fun…and pills. Since I got home, the number of pills I take daily has increased, but Just finished my last Z-pack pill. I know one less pills a day isn’t much to many people, but to me it’s a blessing. I have joked for a few years that I am going to stop drinking alcohol and switch exclusively to pills. That’s kind happening. LOL
It’s hard to believe that I have been home for two weeks. I fly back home to Dallas next Saturday and will hit the ground running with doctors appointments, podcast planning, physical therapy, Board meetings, shooting videos, attending the theater and the thing I most look forward to: MRI, the Do Over!!!!
Uuuuuuggggghhhhh!!! Exactly two weeks from today. Saturday, January 6 at 9:30am.
But until then, IT’S CHRISTMAS!!!

Coming to you from the Celebrity Neighborhood of Creekwood in York, South Carolina. Today is Friday, December 22. It’s going to be a beautiful, mostly sunny day with a high of 58.
No Birthdays on the calendar today.:
Good Morning, Possums and Happy Friday. I hope your week has gone well. Hopefully (if you are not already on vaycay) you can sneak out a little early today because the weekend has arrived - and not just any weekend, but Christmas weekend filed with frantic shoppers, frustrated travelers, crowded airports -but also, cooking, eating, wrapping gifts, carolers, holiday lights, friends and family. Oh, and Santa Claus (who tends to overshadow the birth of Jesus occasionally) they are both important in different ways.
Rumor has it that Jesus was actually born in the summer and his birthday was moved. After a little research (google), the real reason for the selection of Dec. 25 seems to have been that it is exactly nine months after March 25, the traditional date of Jesus' crucifixion. As Christians developed the theological idea that Jesus was conceived and crucified on the same date, they set the date of his birth nine months later.
I have to thank the Google for that information.
I have two gifts yet to arrive - just stocking stuffers - they should arrive today or tomorrow.
Today, I am our building our podcast website and then we have a dinner to attend this evening - so a relaxing day!

Happy Birthday to:

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Friday Eve. I hope your week has been going well. Things are good here in the Jones Household. Today is the first (and probably only) day we have nothing planned. The thought of staying in my jammies and watching horrible Christmas movies has crossed my mind, but I’m afraid I would get bored.
I slept nearly five hours last night. These steroids are working overtime to both get me well and drive me crazy.
My shingles are nearly gone. There is one spot that is taking its time healing. I know, I’ve said this before, but (check with your Doctor first) but go get your shingles shot. I have had these horrible things for nearly four months and I do not wish them on anyone (currently).
However, I cannot complain. The television is overrun with commercials from Scottish Rite, Children’s Hospital, Shriner’s, St. Jude and homeless veterans. And all of that is just heart-wrenching. Kids should not get sick; especially with cancer, tumors, and all of that mess. They should’t be put through multiple surgeries, radiation and chemo. I only had five rounds of chemo and that was awful. I can’t imagine a kid going through all that. Also, our veterans should not be homeless and not taken care of.
It’s just a reminder that while I do have multiple sclerosis (in case you didn’t know), I have a home, I am surrounded by people who love me (in SC and inTX) and…well I could go on and on, but I won’t. You get the point. Be thankful. Be considerate. Be hopeful. Be Helpful. Be Supportive. Be Kind.
I know there is always someone worse off the I am, and I hate that. That shouldn’t make me feel better, even though sometimes I may want it to.
Thankfulness. Consideration. Hopefulness. Helpfulness. Support. Kindness. All of those are free.

Happy Birthday to:
Nhan Hoang
Good Afternoon, Possums and Happy Wednesday and Happy Hump Day. We made it half way through the week. I hope you day is going well. I am fighting my way through this nasty cold - I am getting relief from the Z-Pack I got from the doctor as well as the high-octane steroids. Unfortunately, those ‘roids have kept awake since 1:30am. Thank goodness the dose decreases each day. Soon I will be down to my normal daily dose. But right now, I’m beat.
Got a note from my neurologist this morning.I sent her an update yesterday and told her things were going well, but that after an intense google search and ten minutes on WebMD.com, I feared might have multiple sclerosis. LOL- I’m not sure if she laughed or not. I suppose I will find out on 1/8/24.
Season one of our podcast is getting quite full - I have enlisted thee more guests and we are going to have a slew of theater and concert reviews including the 25th Anniversary of Chicago, the musical, Jagged Little Pill, the musical, Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, Beetlejuice, the musical, Funny Girl, the musical, Hairspray, the musical, and concerts with Alan Cumming (Tony winner for playing the emcee in Cabaret), Kristin Chenoweth (Tony and Emmy Winner) and comedian/actor Kathy Griffin.
Other than me and my cohosts, our Housewives, Billy on the Street, Sportsball and Political correspondents will be introduced. All of this and a special guest each week. Stay tuned for more updates as well as our launch date and where you can pick up our our podcast little show.

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Monday. We are kicking off a new work week…or maybe, you are taking some time off work. Either way, I hope your day is great.
Lots going on around the Jones Manor today. We are having a few people over tomorrow and we need to get the house ready. I need to bag and tag a few gifts and later, mom and I are going to try out a new punch recipe. It may or may not be an adult punch recipe - either way, I’ll let you know….or my head will - LOL.
With all the meds I take, I do not drink that much. Although, once in a while I will indulge with my friends. One thing about prescription drugs is the side effects are all the same. You can find them written on the bottle or the mound of paper attached to the meds when you pick them up. And on the television commercials, they have the fastest talking person in the universe read them. Regardless, it’s always the same:
Mixing alcohol can bee dangerous, Nausea, Weight gain, Trouble sleeping, Dry mouth, Blurred vision, Dizziness, Anxiety, Headache, Diarrhea or constipation, Sexual problems, Fatigue, Tremors, Increased sweating, Blood Clots, Acne, Swelling in the neck or abdomen, etc… but those are the main ones.
I always ask my neurologist about booze consumption and she hasn't said 'No' yet.
Well, I have discovered a secret side effect of one of my medications. Do I know which one it is? I do not. Why don’t I know? I take entirely too many medications each day. Am I trying to narrow it down? I certainly am.
So…one of the side effects of one of my medications is I cannot get a hangover. Does this make me want to have cocktails everyday? It does not. Are there days I want to have a cocktail? Yes, but only if I’m meeting my friends in the ‘hood, or if I have had a particularly rough MS day or Kenny, Becca and SAP are coming down to the ‘hood for Tex Mex and margaritas.
I had a couple of iced teas from Long Island a while back and I fully expected to have a headache the next morning, but nothing! I had TexMex and several Margs with my peeps….and nothing.
We may have over-indulged one night in NYC, and again…NIOTHING.
My next cocktail will probably be New Years or in the New Year. Who can say? Regardless, CHEERS!
I say all this as I want to report on the Irish Cream I made the other day. It’s really good. It may be just a hair more Irish than Cream, but what do I know? I’m Scottish. HA!

Possuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuums!
Coming to you from the Celebrity Neighborhood of Creekwood in York, South Carolina. Today is Sunday, December 17. It’s going to be a chilly, rainy day with a high of 50.

Good Afternoon, Possums and Happy Sunday. And just as soon as the weekend began, the end is nigh and a new workday/work week begins.
It has been quite the day thus far. First, I showered and dressed myself and then I loaded myself into the car - no help. That hasn’t happened in MONTHS! Even in NYC, each Uber (I’ll talk about this another time) had a system of pulleys, levers and an occasional crane to get me and my wheelchair into the car.
I tell you…having a chronic nerve disease (MS) and then having an outbreak of shingles (which also attacks the nerves) - I really didn’t have a shot of mobile (walking) or pain-free fall.
Next, and the most important thing, my Sweet Angel pointed to me and said my name. Then, she came over and got the remote for the lights on my wheels. When she was done playing with it, she brought it back and handed it to me without asking.
We went to church this morning for the Christmas Cantata which was beautiful. I saw so many people that do not that often - maybe once or twice a year. One such individual (that I have not seen in YEARS) has volunteered to guest on our upcoming podcast.
After church, we all came back our mom and dad’s for Sunday Lunch as well as my niece, Emily’s, birthday (which was last Tuesday). Lunch was delicious -my brother cooked - and birthday cake was outstanding. But my mom was make great cakes - birthday or otherwise. It was a wonderful holiday lunch with the whole family. The family is gone to their homes and me, mom and dad are hanging at home.
We started watching Season 2 of “Reacher” on Prime. It is very good. The first three episodes are out. Also, because I feel like this needs to be said every year at the holidays, and just to be clear, but “Die Hard” IS a Christmas movie! Just say’in.
Gonna end here today, possums. No drug company bashing or hating (although, I can hear a commercial playing on television right now for Skyrizi - aaarrrggghh) - I shall refrain.
Enjoy your Sunday, your holiday and your family! We’ll talk more tomorrow.

Possuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuums!
Coming to you from the Celebrity Neighborhood of Creekwood in York, South Carolina. Today is Saturday, December 16. It’s going to be a mostly sunny day to start with a high of 50. There’s a downpour headed this way tomorrow - all day - nothing but rain.

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Saturday. The weekend has begun. I am sure for many of you there is some shopping and perhaps some cooking/baking that needs tone done. Or maybe you are preparing for family/guests to arrive or maybe you are the guests/family that be be arriving. In any matter, it’s a busy time of year for everyone.
It’s a chilly day in the neighborhood. Dad has gone up to the church to help make the chicken stew (the Men’s club sells). And Mom has gone to choir practice - their cantata is tomorrow morning. So I am left here to my own devices. Not to worry - it’s difficult to get into trouble in a wheelchair - not impossible, just more difficult.
Besides, I am saving my energy for after lunch at which time I will be making home made Irish cream. I cannot wait to see how it turns out. I will let you know when it is done this afternoon…and again tomorrow morning when I have my coffee - LOL.
I saw another drug commercial online that just drives me crazy - it’s on all the time. The commercial is for Jiardiance - to lower your A1C. A mature/full-figured woman starts singing on a bus, then she skips out followed by her back-up singers. She is then seen dancing around fountain - just happy as a clam - in fact everyone in that commercial is overjoyed. I swear, that commercial is so sweet, if you don’t have diabetes, you could probably get it by watching that commercial a few times in a row.
I have never seen so many people in one place so happy about lowering their A1C - not that it is not important, but come on.
Next, we see our Jiardiance Princess selecting her outfit for the final A1C Jiardiance dance number and her stylist selects a hideous YELLOW dress with large red things printed on it. OK, lets stop right there for a minute. First, this woman of new dimensions has long brown hair. Second, if we learned anything from Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” it’s that brunettes should’t wear long yellow/gold dresses. (Kidding). But this dress does NOTHING for her. It’s almost like they wanted her to look bigger.
In the end they all dance and support her and now everyone is going to ask their doctor for this drug.
I applaud the support but LET YOUR DOCTOR DECIDE THIS COURSE OF TREATMENT FOR YOU not the drug company. Should you ask your doctor about it? ABSOLUTELY!! But let her/him considerate for you.
OK, I’m done and I’m off my soapbox. I’m going back to thoughts of Irish Cream dancing in my head.
