My Life with Multiple Sclerosis 033023

Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,
Possuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuums!

Coming to you from the Celebrity Suites o f the Wyndemere Condominiums on Turtle Creek in Dallas, Texas.  Today is Thursday, March 30.  It’s going to be a partly cloudy day with a high of 71 degrees.

Happy Birthday to:

Sally Thomas
Samuel Swanson

Good Morning, Possums and Friday eve.  This week is going by quickly.

I had PLEX #2 yesterday and everything went well.  I came into the office today and I have PLEX #3 in 24 hours.  To say that my body is exhausted is an understatement.  However, it is doing some good.  I am moving around better.  I may take my roller for a short spin after work if I am not too tired.

Before I discuss the events of last night, I want to THANK EVERYONE who has donated to my MSWALK fundraiser.  In just 16 days, a little over $7,000 or 73 % of my goal. (There are a few donations I need to enter in manually).

The total is $7370 – only $2630 to go to meet my goal!

If you would like to make a donation / contribution and sponsor me as well as contribute to ending MS for good, there is two weeks remaining until the MSWalk.

I hope I can count on your support again this year to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis and sponsor me in the WalkMS.  Click the link provided below to make your online donation.  If your company matches, please indicate that as well.

If you are uncomfortable donating online and would like to send a check, please text me or send me a note through Facebook Messenger and I will send you my mailing address.

Once again, thank you for your support.  Let’s eradicate Multiple Sclerosis, if not for any other reason than it just sucks.  I kicked the fundraising off with a $500 donation.  Gotta walk that walk and talk that talk.

Now for last night.  Here is my review (and it’s my opinion only) of Moulin Rouge, the Musical.

Last night, I went to the theater to see Moulin Rouge, the Musical -  based on the film of the same name which came out in 2001 and starred Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor.

As most of you know, I love an old fashioned musical like Hello Dolly, Oklahoma,  She Loves Me, or Sweet Charity (And not the most recent abomination of a production which completely abandoned Fosse’s choreography and rearranged the musical numbers.  I love Christina Applegate (not only because she has MS) but it was an awful hot mess.  I want those two hours of my life back.  But I digress).  The old shows all have beautiful scores and great lyrics; not to mention gorgeous costumes, staging and fantastic dance numbers.  I like some of the new stuff too, but nowadays a great many of them rely too much on techie stuff and flash and smoke and not enough on talent.  The older shows are pure magic.

I saw Moulin Rouge in 2001 when it came out and I absolutely detested that film.  I thought it was a waste of my time and ridiculous.  So, needless to say, I was a little hesitant about going to see the show tonight, especially knowing this was based on a film I did not like.  Except for the people I was going with, my attendance may have been partially based on the fact that I have season tickets.

We walked in, well, I rolled in, to this (see pic I posted last night) which made me very nervous.  I knew right away there was nothing old-fashioned about this show. You have probably figured out where I am going with this so  I might as well go ahead and tell you……..This show is solid fun and very entertaining!

The music is not so original (but if you saw the movie you know this already) but the sets, costumes, orchestra (band) and actors are all at the top of their game.  Sure the costumes are flashy and the music can get a little loud - so loud that it’s hard to hear the singing, but even through all of that, there is life on the stage.

The lead actors and supporting cast have been well-selected for their roles - as is the ensemble. Their dancing is meaningful and fun.  The voices are beautiful, strong and well suited for each character… except for one.  I liked the lead female, and she is a wonderful singer, but her voice kinda got on my nerves here and there.  It’s like Patti LuPone - Patti LuPone is well-aware that her enunciation of some words when she sings bugs some folks, but it doesn’t bother her (and she has three Tony awards) - so there.

Does seeing this musical make me want to watch the movie again?  Only if there is a gun to my head.

However, if you want to see this show you should go.  It is great fun and entertaining - suitable for all ages (I think).

Moulin Rouge gets FOUR POSSUMS from me.

Anyhoozle, what are your plans today?

Whatever, your day holds and whatever your plans may be, I wish you all a SPECTACULAR day.  Do everything today with kindness in your heart.  The world is full of kind people.  If you can’t find one, be one!

To all of my fellow MS Warriors, keep fighting the good fight. And to all MS Warrior Supporters, Thank You!   Your support means everything.

Peace, Love and Blessings to you all.  -AJ
