Good Morning, Possums. Happy Tuesday, Happy November 1 and Happy Holiday Season. It is here and there is no denying it. At least I think it is here. I can hear the holiday music and commercials on television playing in the background. However, it becoming increasingly overshadowed by the divorce of Tom Brady (Cry Brady) and Gisele Bunchen. It is also dangerously close to overshadowing me. But neither one of them are one of my possums……yet!
I have begun looking into FMLA, short-term disability and taking a leave of absence (LOA) from work - just to finish up my chemotherapy, adjust my medication and get through my next MRI in early December. I want to know my options and I think it is the right decision.
I AM FINE but I have been struggling with a few things and getting through the next two months is going to be rough: two more rounds of chemotherapy, three more plasma exchanges, an MRI and handling the effects of all the medication (which needs to be adjusted) is a lot. Add work on top of that and I think something has got to give a little.
I thought I could handle it all, and I think I could but I would do a half-assed job….and I will not do that.
I am NOT admitting defeat and allowing MS to win, but I am admitting that I need some assistance. After all, rumor has it that I can be somewhat stubborn and/or hard-headed, but you and I both know that’s just gossip, non-sense and hear-say.
Don’t give up MS Warriors. Fight the good fight but realize when you need some assistance. I have learned and finally accepted that it is OK to ask for help. Asking for help is not admitting defeat.
