Good Morning, Possums and Happy Wednesday and Happy Hump Day. We made it half way through the week. January comes to a close today as well. January always seems like the longest month (to me) but it has flown by.
Yesterday was a busy day. I had an appointment with an infectious disease doctor at UT Southwest. I do not hatve one nor was I inquiring about getting one. My neurologist sent me there as a precaution to have this last shingles area taking its time clearing up. But it’s all good. No new meds. It will heal. It’s just taking its time. Also, this weekend, I will be getting my pneumonia vaccine - flu last weekend, pneumonia vaccine this weekend and my first shingles vaccine the following weekend. Then, it will be February - LOL.
I spent an hour and half on the phone yesterday with insurance to straighten something out (not on my end). They needed a phone number of a provider - AN HOUR AND A HALF. I was on hold for most of it.
Health insurance is already a racket as is the prescription drug industry and anything Dr. Oz and Oprah Winfrey are involved with. We need a Drug and Health Insurance Czar and someone to regulate Oprah. I don’t really care about Dr, Oz! Oprah introduced him to the world so maybe he should be her responsibility. He’s more an annoyance now.
No appointments today - the house keeper is coming this morning and I need to finish editing episode #2 of our podcast. It should be out this evening.
Tomorrow, I have occupational and physical therapy in the morning and PLEX (plasma exchange) tomorrow afternoon. Friday will be spent resting and recovering from Thursday.

No birthdays on my calendar today.
Good Morning, Possums and Happy Monday. It’s time to kick off another work week and nearly time to bring January 2024 to an end.
Today, I’ll be spending most of the day prepping for our podcast recording this evening. This will be podcast recording number two. We are still finding our footing and getting settled, but we are having fun along the way. We will start having guests on podcast number three.
Also, I need to finish my review of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical I saw last week. It was, for the most part, a very entertaining show - especially if you like Tina Turner - and how can you not like Tina Turner?
Well, the Suer Bowl Teams have been decided. The big question (according to a report on the Today Show this morning), is not who will win, but will Taylor Swift make it back from Tokyo in time for the Super Bowl so she can cheer her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and the Kansas City Chiefs on to a Super Bowl victory. My question is “WHO CARES?”
I don’t begrudge Tay-Tay one bit of happiness, but let the Super Bowl be about the football and not her love life. While, I don’t have a dog in this (football) fight, I do know that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are not the two teams battling it out for football domination as the news might lead you believe. I will be watching the Super Bowl for the right reason…the commercials.

Yesterday was good -I finally got haircut and I also got a flu shot. The later is why this will be a short post today. My body is reacting in a funky way to the flu shot. I am constantly freezing, my neuropathy is off the charts and I am very tired. But it’s all good - this, too, shall, pass.
I have been blessed with multiple sclerosis and I doubt that I am first or only one this has happened to. Just another one of those things I have to suck up and move on.
Busy week ahead - an appointment with the infectious disease doctor (for shingles), occupational and physical therapy, PLEX and we will be recording episode 2 of our podcast.

I was beat yesterday. With everything going on last week, having a Friday with no plans is what I needed.
Thursday night, we saw the Broadway touring production of Tina: the Tina Turner Musical. Without giving too much away, I found the show enjoyable. My full review will be in episode 2 of our podcast next week. Until then, I would absolutely recommend seeing this show.

I had a great day yesterday. Our Board of Directors retreat was a success and it was nice meeting the new board members.
Today, my assistant, Viola, will be here in a bit to fix brekky, do a little laundry and hook me up to this annoying machine for an hour or so to help the faulty valve in an artery in my leg work better and make my feet not swell.
Tonight, I am going to see the Broadway touring production of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical. It’s another jukebox musical (of which I am not a fan), but I love Tina Turner. Review to follow on our podcast next week.
Speaking of our podcast, it is now available for your listening pleasure. I have a horrible case of MS Speech (it was very difficult to speak). It sounds like I have been drinking all day but I have not. Hopefully, I will be better next week.
We had a lot of fun recording this first show. It may entertain no one - just us - but it was fun. Plus, this first show is more of a get to know you/us show. FYI: this show is not or ever will be sponsored by Disney or Sesame Street (if that tells you anything).

Yesterday was a fairly productive day. My eye doctor appointment went well and I go a new prescription. After that, I came home and began editing or podcast. So far,I have cut it down from two hours to an hour and ten minutes. I would like to cut 15 more minutes before posting. I will work on that this evening.
Today, I have a Board of Directors retreat for the Board of the Irving Schools Foundation followed by a Happy Hour at the Four Seasons.
My MS is behaving, more or less. I just need my feet to work. They are moving more - little by little- but they are taking their sweet time.
OK, I need to get busy!

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Tuesday. The weekends ending and it’s time to prepare for the week ahead. It’s cold, windy and cloudy here - maybe some freezing rain tonight.
The week has just begun and it has been eventful/busy. We recorded the first episode of our podcast last night. I was concerned about having enough content, but no worries. I am going to have to edit down. We have plenty - LOL. It should ready for your listening/viewing pleasure by Thursday…at least that’s my goal.
Today/This morning, I am headed to the eye doctor - FINALLY. I can’t see worth a hoot. After that, I have leg therapy here at home and my semaglutide injection. And after that, I will be editing. So there is a lot to do, but these clouds and rain make it hard to stay focused. A blanket and a nap keep calling me….”Andy, Andy - come to your couch and cover up,” I must resist and stay focused on the tasks at hand.
I have a pill I could take that my neurologist prescribed to me to keep awake and stay focused, but I try not to take it. I take enough pills as it is, but today maybe an exception.

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Tuesday. The weekends ending and it’s time to prepare for the week ahead. It’s cold, windy and cloudy here - maybe some freezing rain tonight.
The week has just begun and it has been eventful/busy. We recorded the first episode of our podcast last night. I was concerned about having enough content, but no worries. I am going to have to edit down. We have plenty - LOL. It should ready for your listening/viewing pleasure by Thursday…at least that’s my goal.
Today/This morning, I am headed to the eye doctor - FINALLY. I can’t see worth a hoot. After that, I have leg therapy here at home and my semaglutide injection. And after that, I will be editing. So there is a lot to do, but these clouds and rain make it hard to stay focused. A blanket and a nap keep calling me….”Andy, Andy - come to your couch and cover up,” I must resist and stay focused on the tasks at hand.
I have a pill I could take that my neurologist prescribed to me to keep awake and stay focused, but I try not to take it. I take enough pills as it is, but today maybe an exception.

No Birthdays on my calendar today.
Good Morning, Possums and Happy Sunday. The weekends ending and it’s time to prepare for the week ahead. It’s cold, windy and cloudy here - maybe some freezing rain tonight.
I have quite the busy week ahead: recording, editing and uploading our podcast, new eye doctor appointment, Board of Directors retreat, a Broadway touring musical and it all ends with a delightful afternoon of Plasma Exchange (PLEX). And that’s just Monday (kidding).
I love it - I am finally getting some sort of schedule and some sort of life back - a life taken from me by my layoff, multiple sclerosis flares and shingles. Mind you, MS has taken my life/schedule away from me quite a bit, and I fight back as hard as I can, but I hope pray I can keep MS at for a while. There’s a lot of good stuff coming up that I would like to be a part of…correction - that I am GOING TO BE A PART OF!
Broadway Dallas announced their 2024/25 season on Friday. There is some good stuff coming in: Come From Away, Back to the Future, The Lion King and The Wiz. But I almost excited about SHUCKED. I saw it this passed December in NYC and it is a very funny show. I am also anxious to see what touring productions the other Performing Arts Center / Broadway House is bringing in for their 2024/35 season.
We record Season1/Episode 1 of our podcast tomorrow evening. I think we are all very excited about it and I hope you all will give us a listen. I am going to try my best to have it up on Thursday and ready your enjoyment. Just remember:
- This is our first go at something like this.
- It may take a few episodes for us to find our groove/footing.
- We have no budget/sponsors (yet) so no advertisements
- This podcast is NOT Disney Approved! (There may be some colorful language here and there.

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Saturday and Happy weekend. So sorry I did not get to post yesterday. I had PLEX (plasma exchange) on Thursday for the first time in almost two months and it wiped me out. I was a bit of a slug yesterday.
We are slowly approaching the end of January. Can you believe it? Things are just now getting ready to pick up (and not just with doctors appointments). My calendar is not up to date and I need to get on that this weekend.
In a post a few months back, I went on about a commercial for Lume deodorant and how it was on constantly and I was really tired of seeing this woman apply the product to her, “pits, under-boob, thigh-fold, butt crack and feet.’ My cousin responded to the post and said it was great.
While at home over Christmas, the same company came out with deodorant products for men called Mando. They were offering a sample kits with several different items so I thought, what the hell, and I ordered the sample kit. While I stand by my feelings for that commercial, I have to say that Mando is “da bomb diggity.” The stuff works as advertised and the different fragrances are very nice (they have unscented as well). Give it a try. It’s good stuff.

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Thursday and Happy Friday Eve. It’s finally above freezing but who knows for how long? I would be delighted if that was our annual ice/snow ‘event’, but it’s still January.
Sorry I didn’t post yesterday but I was up all night Tuesday night - I couldn’t sleep. It’s just another blessing MS occasionally provides. I will nap this afternoon.
Today is going be a busy one: semaglutide injection, an hour of leg therapy, an hour of unclogging my port, plasma exchange (PLEX - my first since November) and maybe, if I am awake, a happy hour cocktail with my friends when it’s all over.
I am busy with appointments the next two or three weeks. My deductible should met soon if it isn’t already. I have a bit of a sick, love/hate relationship with MS: I love meeting my deductible in January (free stuff for 11 months) but I hate having MS and hate having so many appointments and procedures in one month that meet my deductible.
Oh snap - I need to add getting all of my shots: flu shot, pneumonia shot, shingles shots (they will be last).
I’m exhausted.

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Tuesday. It’s incredibly cold so stay (work) from home and stay warm. I’ll write you a note.
We had a nice, thin blanket of snow on the ground yesterday morning. Today, we are left with remnants the snow and the same hateful cold weather. It will not be above freezing until tomorrow around noon.
I was not as productive yesterday as I should have been, but today I will get things done. I have to. My calendar is filling up with stuff. Not with fun stuff, but with things like physical therapy, occupational therapy, botox (in my legs) and whatnot. There are a few fun things here and there but it’s mostly medical (MS-related).
Exciting news yesterday-the Broadway musical, “Shucked” which played its final performance a few days ago, is being made into a movie. “Shucked” is a funny, clever show. I cannot wait to see how they handle the movie. The Broadway touring production begins traveling the country this fall.
Finally, I want to wish the happiest of birthdays to my bestest Gal-Pal, @Sallie Ann Plaxico. I cannot begin to say enough about her other than she is one of the most wonderful people I have had the pleasure to call my friend.
