My Life with Multiple Sclerosis 091823

Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,
Possuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuums!

Coming to you from the Celebrity Suite of the Wyndemere Condominiums at Turtle Creek. Today is Monday, September 18 and the high temperature is going to be 93 degrees and sunny.. We have some really pitiful chances of rain later this week, but I will be surprised.

Happy Belated Birthday to:

Andy Gough
Mike Finney
Stacy Garner

Happy Birthday to:

Mark Fiorello
Robin Elwell Robertson

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Monday. Time to kick off another work week. I know I’m not working but I’m doing stuff

I had a pretty good weekend. Friday afternoon, my friends Carol Margo Stanners and her sister dropped by for a few. It sure was nice to see them. Friday evening, my Bestie, Shannon Brown, came over with Chinese food and Tito’s. We talked and caught up and watch a little TV and had a few cocktails. It was nice. I haven’t seen him in 3 weeks. He’s been gone, I’ve sick - just one thing after another.

I chatted with my podcast cohosts and we made some assignments and will meet back again in another week. Things are coming along nicely.

As for the shingles, well over the weekend they were doing very well. They were happy as a clam. I, however, was miserable and in pain. Thank God for pain meds and sleep. I slept a majority of Saturday and Sunday. But I am happy to report that things are actually looking better. There is still some pain but not nearly as much.

Shingles don’t lie! And shingles don’t play! I don’t wish this on anyone.

Things for our NYC trip in November/December are coming along nicely. We have tickets for Thursday (‘I Can Get It For You Wholesale’ and reunite with Judy Kuhn, ‘Kimberly Akimbo’ and Friday and ‘Shucked’ on Saturday). I cannot wait.

I had to cancel my PT and PLEX this week (because of Shingles) but I am moving forward with fat removal and all that its entails. Session 2 is on Thursday.

In other news:

Wheelchair Status -Awaiting arrival. My new wheelchair is scheduled to arrive at my casa on 10/4.

SSA Case Status - Up from 23% to 27% Complete
Supplemental SSA - Up from 16% to 19% Complete

Kankle News - I have two - REGULAR FEET, for now.

Podcast - coming along nicely.

Anyhoozle, that’s all I have for today. I hope you all have a GREAT day!

Whatever your day holds and whatever your plans may be, I wish you all a SPECTACULAR day. Do everything today with kindness in your heart. The world is full of kind people. If you can’t find one, be one!

To all of my fellow MS Warriors, keep fighting the good fight. And to all MS Warrior Supporters, Thank You! Your support means everything.

Peace, Love and Blessings to you all. -AJ

My Life with Multiple Sclerosis 091523

Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,
Possuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuums!

Coming to you from the Celebrity Suite of the Wyndemere Condominiums at Turtle Creek. Today is Friday, September 14 and the high temperature is going to be 81 degrees and partly cloudy. I am digging this weather.

Happy Belated Birthday to:

Pam Brown
Carol Margo Stanners
Barry Newkirk
Doug Aguiar

Happy Birthday to:

Ian Ferguson
Jonah Villegas

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Friday / FriYAY and TGIF. And the weather…isn’t this fantastic?

Things are quiet here in the celebrity suite. I have had to make breakfast for myself - again (I know - First World problem). But Bud Jones makes a mean breakfast. It’s hard not to get used to that.

In keeping with documenting my MS journey to share with anyone in my position (and I know they are out there), here we go:

Having MS keeps me fairly sedentary. Having MS and Shingles makes me sedentary and a complete A-hole. I need to move, walk - something! Losing this lard would make it a great deal easier for me to be mobile.)

Unfortunately, no Dr. worth his/her/their (we’ll get into that pronoun stuff later) salt will operate on me because of the MS and because of the blood clots I had last summer. So I found this doctor who lost his license to practice that will do it for me for free - LOL - Just Kidding!

I am having the lard laser-heat-melted off. Yesterday was my first session. It was simple / easy. It more-or-less felt like I was in a tanning bed for 30 minutes. The only down side is having to wear this compression garment (shirt) for the next 72 hours. But the jokes on the technician, I wore shirts tighter than this 20 years ago when we all went out dancing on the weekends. Of course back then, I was in GREAT shape. And I had some testosterone and a waistline.

My next session is next Thursday. I will get measured and see how much I have lost in a week and get in the ‘tanning bed’ for another 30 minutes. Stay tuned for results…

My Friday will be spent canceling and rescheduling appointments I cannot go to because of these delightful shingles. If it wasn’t’t for the excruciating pain. You might never know they were there.

In other news:

Wheelchair Status -Awaiting arrival. My new wheelchair is scheduled to arrive at my casa on 10/4.

SSA Case Status - Up from 23% to 27% Complete
Supplemental SSA - Up from 16% to 18% Complete

Kankle News - I have two - REGULAR FEET, for now, but I am not going to hold my breath

Podcast - still planning and scheduling.

Anyhoozle, that’s all I have for today. I hope you all have a GREAT day!

Whatever your day holds and whatever your plans may be, I wish you all a SPECTACULAR day. Do everything today with kindness in your heart. The world is full of kind people. If you can’t find one, be one!

My Life with Multiple Sclerosis 091323

Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,
Possuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuums!

Coming to you from the Celebrity Suite of the Wyndemere Condominiums at Turtle Creek. Today is Wednesday, September 13 and the high temperature is going to be 81 degrees today.

Happy Belated Birthday to:

Cynthia Auten Jonas
Shelley Pezzia
Christopher Crain
Derrick Dawson
Tj Lymenstull
Andrew Bayro
Bryan Harvey

No birthdays on my calendar today.

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Hump Day. We made it half way through the week. And the weather…isn’t this fantastic?

Well, it has certainly been a week. I haven’t done much of anything except make/confirm/reschedule doctors’ appointments and tend to my shingles. Well, mom and dad really tended to them. I just lied there and said, ‘ouch’! LOL

Mom and Dad flew home and arrived at home safely yesterday. I think (hope) I am over the worst part (finger’s crossed) and they have a great grandchild to spoil. They offered to stay, but I can take it from here.

My new cleaning service starts today and they do laundry, change linens and clean out the fridge. I’m good with all of that.

Last night, I had a committee meeting for Spark Tank. Spark Tank is a committee under the Board of Directors I am on for the Irving Schools Foundation. It was our first one since school started back. I Love being on this committee. We awarded over $16,000.00 to students for a theater project, band uniforms and supplies, students leadership programs, and sports equipment. It was so heart-warming too see the reactions on the student’s and teacher’s faces.

You can read about Spark Tank and the Irving Schools Foundation here:

https://irvingschoolsfoundation.org/

https://irvingschoolsfoundation.org/programs/spark-tank/

I have had plenty of time to think during this ‘down period’ and even at my lowest, I kept telling myself, “there is someone worse off than you.” Even though that may be, and even though that didn’t necessarily make me feel better (it’s not supposed to), it did remind me that I have parents that would be here in a heartbeat and a lot of people praying for me. That is what made me feel better and that is what will help heal me - well, that and these drugs I’m on.

Think it through, regain perspective, stay positive…and take drugs only as directed! HA!

Also, MS Sucks and shingles hurt like hell. Thank you that is all.

In other news:

Wheelchair Status -Awaiting arrival. My new wheelchair is scheduled to arrive at my casa on 10/4.

SSA Case Status - Up from 23% to 25% Complete
Supplemental SSA - Up from 16% to 18% Complete

Kankle News - I have two - off and on. Right now, it’s on.

Podcast - running a test this evening with my cohosts.

Anyhoozle, that’s all I have for today. I hope you all have a GREAT day!

Whatever your day holds and whatever your plans may be, I wish you all a SPECTACULAR day. Do everything today with kindness in your heart. The world is full of kind people. If you can’t find one, be one!

Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,
Possuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuums!

Happy Birthday to:

Andrea Ronning
DuWee Engstrom
Kevin Jones

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Wednesday and Happy Hump Day. You are already half way through the week. I hope it is going well.

Mom and Dad got here safely yesterday afternoon (about 30 minutes after the cleaners left - LOL). They ran a few quick errands and we settled in for the evening.

I am finally feel like I am on the mend. Still no Fever (YAY), and I think the gymnast who has been doing a floor routine in my stomach for the last few days is finally getting tired - either that or he is taking a break.

Today we are doing “stuff”. They (parents) are out taking care of a few things, and I am at home politely smacking my insurance people around via the phone, and sending notes to my doctors and my attorney and typing and pressing Send with conviction.

My left leg is doing some new - you may find this funny. I find it annoying as hell. My left leg/foot will just twitch/tremor - NOTICEABLY - all on it’s own - for no reason. It will do this for a few hours and stop for a few hours. It will happen one day, but not the next. Best guess (for all of my years in medical school) is that I must have some new nerve damage - or there’s a ghost in my leg - who knows?

In other news:

Wheelchair Status -My new wheelchair is scheduled to arrive at my casa on 10/4. One more month in my current deathtrap.

Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,

Happy Birthday to:

Jeanette Kelly
Leslie Norman

Good Afternoon, Possums and Happy Monday and Happy Labor Day. I hope you all have enjoyed this 3-day weekend. I haven’t posted in a few days. I have been the tiniest bit under the weather.

I went to bed with a slight fever on Friday night and held on to it as tight as I possibly could until yesterday afternoon. When I actually catch something which, now, is easier than ever, my system attacks it rather than my MS. And when that happens, my MS symptoms become more prevalent; legs not working, difficult standing and moving my feet, difficulty staying focused, low energy…My stomach is doing an olympic gymnasts floor routine, but my tinnitus is gone. WTH?

Mom and Dad arrive tomorrow - thank goodness. Sadly, I have nothing planned but it will be nice to have them here - wait - I have PLEX on Friday morning - I have one thing planned. LOL

I have an appointment on October 6 to have a sonogram on both of my legs at the Heart and Vascular Center at UTSW and then a meeting with a doctor the following Tuesday to discuss the results and come up with a solution to correct the faulty valves.

See, I fall apart and UTSW is more than happy to duct tape me back together. I still have a lot of the original packaging so it’s not the easiest of jobs. Ain’t nothing wrong with that!

In other news:

Wheelchair Status -My new wheelchair is scheduled to arrive at my casa on 10/4. One more month in my current deathtrap.
