MyLife with Multiple Sclerosis 073123

Happy Belated Birthday to:

Loni Reynoldss
Patrick Ruedin
Charla Reiter Montgomery

Happy Birthday to:

Angelia Powell
Bill Alston
Marian B Garnerner
Scott Larson

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Monday. I hope you had a great weekend. July comes to an end today and it takes with it Shark Week (on Discovery), Christmas in July (on one of the many Hallmark channels) and in return, it leaves me a year older (37). It also leaves us with:

115 Days until Thanksgiving
116 Days until Christmas begins
129 Days until the first night of Hannukah
147 Days until Christmas Day
148 Kwanzaa begins
154 Days until 2024

Y’all plan accordingly! LOL

I had a FABULOUS brekky Saturday morning with a few of my friends from my former place of employment: @Andrea Jiminez, @Mary Elizabeth Carter-Kappes and Jan Ross. It was so nice to see them and catch up with them all.

The rest of the weekend was pretty quiet and that’s OK. I needed a bit of down time to prop ups my feet. They were getting a little puffy.

SSA case review has moved up from 13% to 14% COMPLETE and the supplemental funds case remains at 5%.

New Wheelchair Update - I remain in the ‘funding’ status. It still says:

In Kankle News - I still have one normal foot and one puffy foot. Fortunately, it has not been turning into a kankle at the end of the day - just a puffy foot.

In Podcast news, Iwaiting to meet with my co-hosts to verify things and set dates.

Anyhoozle, I hope you all have a wonderful day. What are your plans?

Everyone have a GREAT week!

Whatever your day holds and whatever your plans may be, I wish you all a SPECTACULAR day. Do everything today with kindness in your heart. The world is full of kind people. If you can’t find one, be one!

To all of my fellow MS Warriors, keep fighting the good fight. And to all MS Warrior Supporters, Thank You! Your support means everything.

My Life with Multiple Sclerosis 072823

Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,
Possuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuums!

Coming to you from the Celebrity Suite of the Wyndemere Condominiums at Turtle Creek. Today is Friday, July 28. It is only going to be 100 degrees. I may need a wrap.

Happy Belated Birthday to:

Alyssa Milhouse
Cathy Harrison Graves
Ruben Viveros

Happy Birthday to:

Julie Thomas
Shari Smoak Propst

Good (Late) Morning / (Early) Afternoon, Possums and Happy Friday. It is finally the weekend. This week went by slowly (for me). Being unemployed sucks. I’m at the end of my third month of unemployment and I do not like it.

I was thinking yesterday (did you see the smoke?) I have only heard from two people at my former place of employment since I got laid off. Now listen, I’m not expecting phone calls and emails and texts and all that from everyone at the Bank, but I was there for 16 years and I made many good friends. It saddens me that other people have not reached out - even if just to say ‘Hello’.

However, I have not reached out to anyone there either and that’s on me. I suppose ‘Out of sight, out of mind’ really does apply. I harbor no ill will and I realize my circumstances are somewhat unique, but I have MS, I’m not in a coma. But I digress…

Tomorrow morning, I am meeting some friends that I used to work with at the Bank. One of them still works there. They are/were my work Besties - one was my work wife. We are going to have brekky at Lucky’s - what better place to go and talk and catch up.

I have checked the SSA.gov website and my case review has moved up from 13% to 14% COMPLETE the supplemental funds case remains at 5%.

The wheels of government are turning SLOWLY!!!

New Wheelchair Update - I remain in the ‘funding’ status. It still says:

“We have finalized the collection of required documentation from your medical team. We are now securing authorization from your insurance provider or funding source. We will post an update once we have received approval. If any of your contact or insurance information changes, please contact your Numotion branch or your order may be delayed.”

In Kankle News - I still have one normal foot and one puffy foot. Fortunately, it has not been turning into a kankle at the end of the day - just a puffy foot.

In Podcast news, I have begun lining up interviews for my segments - and no, I’m not telling what they are.

Anyhoozle, I hope you all have a wonderful day. What are your plans?

Everyone have a GREAT weekend!

Whatever your day holds and whatever your plans may be, I wish you all a SPECTACULAR day. Do everything today with kindness in your heart. The world is full of kind people. If you can’t find one, be one!

Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,
Possuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuums!

Coming to you from the Celebrity Suite of the Wyndemere Condominiums at Turtle Creek. Today is Wednesday, July 26. It is going to be a downright arctic afternoon with a high temperature of 101 degrees. BIt’s going to stay over 100 for a while :(

Happy Birthday to:

Paul Noe

Good Morning, Possums. Happy Wednesday and Happy Hump Day. We made it half way through the week. This week seems to be creeping along (for me). I think it’s because I caught a bit of a cold and when that happens, my body attacks it and not my MS. That’s when thing become difficult. It hasn’t been terribly bad, mind you, just annoying.

Oh, the joys and blessings MS provides me are boundless (he said with a snarky grin as he typed).

My podcast equipment arrived yesterday. I am all set up in my home\ office. Now, my podcast cohosts and I need to meet and plan out season one. This is exciting.

I have checked the SSA.gov website and my case review has moved up from12% to 13% COMPLETE the supplemental funds case has moved up from 3% to 5%.

Oh, the wheels of government in motion. As slow as this one is moving, I think it might be stuck in five o’clock traffic.

New Wheelchair Update - I remain in the ‘funding’ status. It still says:

My Life with Multiple Sclerosis 072223

Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,
Possuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuums!

Coming to you from the Celebrity Suite of the Wyndemere Condominiums at Turtle Creek. Today is Saturday, July 21. It is going to be a downright arctic afternoon day with a high temperature of 94 degrees. But fret you not. We are back in the hundreds on Monday and for the following eight days.

Happy Belated Birthday to:

De Bernard
Charles Stuller Jr.
John Harrington
Mark Gallucci
Rena Walden

Happy Birthday to:

Brian Scott Davis

Good Afternoon, Possums and Happy Saturday. It’s a beautiful day in Dallas today - tomorrow as well. I may even get out for a stroll (or roll). It’s been a very busy week. It has been a good, yet productive, week.

I received a note from a former colleague yesterday. She has kept up with me and reads my posts regularly. After reading about my wheelchair issues, she wanted to now if she could start some crowdsourcing for funds for my chair. I thought that was so incredibly nice. I told her how much I appreciated the offer, but I that I needed to let it run its current course through insurance. And if that doesn’t work in my favor, it’s on.

PLEX yesterday was great! All my favorite peeps (minus a few) were there and we finished in record time - just slightly over two hours instead of three and a half or four. I felt like I got my Friday back. However, I was still just as wiped out after. That part did not change.

I have checked the SSA.org website and my case review has moved up from 11% to 12% COMPLETE there is also a case for supplemental funds which is at 3% and due to be completed in 9 months as well. I’ll need to ask my attorney about that.

New Wheelchair Update - I have moved up to the next status. Now it says:

“We have finalized the collection of required documentation from your medical team. We are now securing authorization from your insurance provider or funding source. We will post an update once we have received approval. If any of your contact or insurance information changes, please contact your Numotion branch or your order may be delayed.”

PROGRESS!

In Kankle News - I still have one normal foot and one puffy foot. It has not been turning into a kankle by the end of the day - just a puffy foot.

Podcast equipment has been ordered. Now, I need to meet with my cohosts and start planning out the length of the season (probably 10-13 episodes) and what is going in each one. Planning for it to be available on most platforms, including YouTube.

Anyhoozle, I hope you all have a wonderful day. What are your plans?

Whatever your day holds and whatever your plans may be, I wish you all a SPECTACULAR day. Do everything today with kindness in your heart. The world is full of kind people. If you can’t find one, be one!

My Life with Multiple Sclerosis 072023

Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,

Possuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuums!

Coming to you from the Celebrity Suite of the Wyndemere Condominiums at Turtle Creek.  Today is Thursday, July 20.  It is going to be a partly cloudy day with a chilly high temperature of 102 degrees.

Happy Belated Birthday to:

Eugene Feagin

Monica Ashbaugh

Happy Birthday to:

Dave Garcia

John Dean

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Thursday. Also, Happy Friday Eve.  Just hang on one more day and the weekend will be here.

It’s been a very busy week.  I am still waiting to hear from my PCP about my bloodwork.  There is never anything unusual about it so I am not expecting new developments in that area.

My Neurologist called yesterday evening as well.  She went over my MRI and was pleased that there are NO NEW LESIONS.  The (new) meds I started in December seem to be doing the trick (for the most part).  The dizzy spells and difficulty speaking I had over the last few weeks has also disappeared just as quickly as it started.  Unfortunately, I have to remain on those hateful steroids for the time being.  But I kind of knew that was going to be the case.

So far this week:

I have checked the SSA.org website and I am finally entered as a case.  They are a whopping 11% through my case and expect to be through in 9 months.

Time to call my attorney!

New Wheelchair Update - Still In Insurance Hell.  However, the wheelchair company called yesterday to verify that I was getting a new chair.  For some reason, they thought I was modifying the current deathtrap I use.

Time to call my physical therapist.

In Kankle News - I have one normal foot and one puffy foot.  It’s a kankle by the end of the day, but I get to enjoy it as a foot for a few hours every morning.

Time to call my bartender.  I need a cocktail (and leave the bottle).

Good News this week:  I have selected the podcast equipment I want to use.  Today, I will place the order.  It’s kind of exciting.  The first few episodes should be available 01/24 so stay tuned.  I need to get with my cohosts and get everything scheduled.  This will NOT be Disney-rated…just say’in.

I have started making progress in the December trip to NYC:  A little Rocketttes, a little Broadway, a little NYC at the holidays, a little time with Judy Kuhn and a little quality time with my friends - ain’t nothing wrong with that!

Anyhoozle, the weekend is almost here!  I hope you all have a wonderful day.  What are your plans?

Whatever your day holds and whatever your plans may be, I wish you all a SPECTACULAR  day.  Do everything today with kindness in your heart.  The world is full of kind people.  If you can’t find one, be one!

My Life with Multiple Sclerosis 071223

Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,
Possuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuums!

Coming to you from the Celebrity Homes Neighborhood of York, South Carolina. Today is Wednesday, July 12. It is going to be a hot, humid day today….again with a high of 90 degrees.

Greg White
Kelsey Gibbs
Thomas Martin

Andy Jones

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Hump Day. Happy Birthday to everyone celebrating birthdays today (including me). Oh, I’ve heard a few rumblings and whispers of making today a national holiday for me. Of course, I was the one rumbling and whispering (and no one was listening), but that is neither here nor there, is it? LOL

I’ll be spending my birthday at home in SC this year. It’s my last day in SC before returning to the Texas heat tomorrow morning. On today’s agenda: be with my family, have cake for breakfast, do a little laundry, pack my suitcase, finish the day off with more family time, have cake for breakfast and win over my Sweet Angel (even though she will forget me before Christmas rolls around).

I’m afraid I am in need of a little plasma exchange and some botox (in my legs although the facial botox is coming too - if I can find a place a place that needs it - LOL).

My neurologist emailed me yesterday to wish me a Happy Birthday (she’s just the best) and to answer a ew questions I had regarding treatment and these hateful steroids I have been taking since April. I haven’t had any of the hefty mood swings I was promised. When I think of the fun I have missed out on, I try not to be bitter.

Sadly, I think I may be on them for some time. No matter, I’ll just make some more lemonade. The thing is, after a while there comes a point that you get sick and tired of making lemonade. But the best way (for me) to deal with it and move forward is to churn out that lemonade daily, weekly, money, yearly…whether I want to or not. And in return, I am surrounded on a daily basis with family and friends that I adore that makes the lemonade a little less necessary. That helps keeps everything in perspective.

I also get to see the best in total strangers that go out of their way to help me - whether it’s opening or holding a door, carrying something for me or even just pushing an elevator button - I get to see it. And it helps. There are some, a very small percentage, that could give a sh*t, and do nothing. But I pray for them…not that they get hit by a truck or anything like that, but that they gain a little perspective…and open their freak’in eyes. But I digress…

Let’s get the day started. And remember, no matter what kind of day you’re having, it’s five o’clock somewhere! (Stay tuned)!

Anyhoozle, I hope you all have a wonderful day. What are your plans?

Whatever your day holds and whatever your plans may be, I wish you all a SPECTACULAR day. Do everything today with kindness in your heart. The world is full of kind people. If you can’t find one, be one!

My Life with Multiple Sclerosis 071123

Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,
Possuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuums!

Coming to you from the Celebrity Homes Neighborhood of York, South Carolina. Today is Tuesday, July 11. It is going to bhe a hot, humid day today….again with a high of 88 degrees.

Happy Birthday to:

Jason Behrens

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Tuesday. It’s been a great trip home and to the beach, but it is coming to an end. I would stay a bit longer (it’s not like I have a job to get back to) but my body is telling me that I need some fresh plasma. Friday at 1pm, I shall be hooked up to that blood-sucking (and cleaning) machine for a few hours and then sleep the rest of my day away.

Yesterday, we went to Charlotte to meet with my financial advisor/planner. I feel that the twenty-five dollars I have managed to save over the last 40 years of working is in excellent hands and out of my reach for the time being. I fear/think retirement is not too far off.

Today, we are preparing have a few people over - people I need to see and catch up with before Christmas and before I jet back to Dallas on Thursday. Christmas WILL be here in the blink of en eye.

Tomorrow will be spent packing and trying to fit everything into my suitcase and I’ll have dinner with the family one last time. And my sweet angel will be there too. I have an early flight on Thursday. Time always speeds by when I come home….and I hate that!

However, I have some researching and planning and scheduling and recording to do. After all, “It’s 5 O’clock somewhere”?

Anyhoozle, I hope you all have a wonderful day. What are your plans?

Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,

Possuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuums!

Coming to you from the Celebrity Homes neighborhood of York, South Carolina.  Today is Saturday, July 8.  It is going to be a hot, humid day today….again.

Happy Birthday to:

@Mere McCoy (may she rest in peace)

@Polly Adkins

Good Morning, Possums and Happy Saturday.  BUT THE HEAT AND HUMIDITY, Possums.  WTH?  I may as well be back in Dallas.  However, I wouldn’t change a thing.  It’s time I get with mom and dad.  Mom has just finished making a Peach Pound Cake (it’s delish) and Dad is looking for his…change that, found his phone.

Later we are going to my nephews new house (about a mile away) and check it out.  I am excited to see it and especially my Sweet Angel.  She hasn’t quite figured out who I adjust yet, but once she gets the glitter, glitter finger paint, Disney Princess wardrobe and drum set for Christmas, she will know me as her favorite.

Working on “It’s Five o’clock Somewhere, Henny!” I hope lots of folks will download and tune in for the live shows as well.  Still working all of that out.

New Wheelchair News:  No change - stuck in limbo. The holidays yesterday isn’t helping matters either.  I’m sure lots of vacations on Monday and maybe even this week.

In KANKLE NEWS:  Almost back to normal…mostly!

Anyhoozle, what are your plans today?

Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,

Possuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuums!

Coming to you from the Celebrity Homes neighborhood of York, South Carolina.  Today is Friday, July 7.  It is going to be a hot, humid day today.

Happy Birthday to:

Ben Johnston

Beth Ayers Ware

Good Morning, Possums.  I hope your morning has started off well.  How could it not?  It’s Friday, It’s the weekend.

I am back in York for another week.  The beach was a wonderful get away, but it sure is nice to be home as well.  Just a few appointments:  Today, a mani/pedi, Church on Sunday, Monday a meeting with my financial planner.  So lots of down time and time to visit with family and friends before I fly back to Dallas next Thursday.

A lot of my time has been spent getting ready to join to field of podcasters and streaming media.  My new equipment should arrive soon and my fellow podcasters and I can have a dry run.  This is exciting and a whole new area to explore.  We still need to decide where the episodes will live (for your listening enjoyment).  Stay tuned!  It’ s Five o’clock Somewhere, Henny!”

The heat is being a pain in my MS.  But I just need to get used to it.  I don’t want to have to take any new pills, but if it gives me a little relief(or a lot), bring it.

Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,
Possuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuums!

Coming to you from the Celebrity Homes area of Edistow Beach in South Carolina. Today is Wednesday, July 5. It’s a hazy, humid morning at the beach. If I had hair on my head it wouldn’t look teased, it would look pissed off.

Happy Birthday to:

Tricia Sluder Witherspoon
David Matzker
Jay Medina
Michael Baughman
Pauli Brown
Pete Peabody
Russell Jordan
Stephen Maag

Hello Possums. The beach continues to be a wonderful vacation. I’m sad we head home (to York) but there are people I want to spend time with and need to see before head back to Dallas.

I am staying off the beach today. Word got out I was there yesterday and one too many paparrazzi arrived. That’s OK - I will stay in today and continue planing my upcoming trips and events. They will all be here before you know it: a trip to NYC including some time with my (faux) Bestie, 4-time Tony award nominee, Judy Kuhn, a fundraising concert showcasing One-Hit-Wonders and the launch of a (faux) Star-Studded Podcast that I am co-hosting (remember, "It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere, Henny”.

New Wheelchair News: No change - stuck in limbo. The holidays yesterday isn’t helping matters either. I’m sure lots of vacations on Monday and maybe even this week.

In KANKLE NEWS: Still puffy and on my nerves.

My Life with multiple Sclerosis 070323

Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,
Possuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuums!

Coming to you from the Celebrity Homes area of Edistow Beach in South Carolina. Today is Monday, July 3. It’s a beautiful morning at the beach. The scoff is ho9t, the breeze is cool and the humidity is at is finest.

Happy Belated Birthday to:

Andy Van Nortwick
Carla Goodrum

Cara Bates McDaniel
Cliff Bohaker
Tom Persechino

Happy Birthday to:

Angela Longoria
Julie Merry Cogdill

Bud Jones

Oh, Hello Possums. It’s been a hot minute since we have chatted. I am currently lounging incognito in the celebrity section of Edisto beach with the family and we are having a blast.

Most everyone is packing up and heading to the beach, but I cannot. MS forbids me from getting in the sun too much but I may sneak down there later. It’s a shame to come all this way and not get my toes in the sand and feel the ocean across my feet.

However, I have plenty to do. I have a trip to New York to plan, a fund raising event to organize, hospital families to adopt for the holidays and Multiple Sclerosis to keep at bay.

I have been lucky enough to win three silent auctions: two were won a few weeks ago at the Metroball; $500 gift card for botox (I'll give to someone who really needs the work - LOL) and $200 gift card for designer frames. The third auction I won benefits the Vineyard theater in NYC and I won two tickets to see a revival of “I Can Get It For You Wholesale” starring four-tome Tony Nominee, JUDY KUHN and a meet and greet with her after the show. Of course, since she knows me so well, we will just be catching up - LOL.

The other shows I want to see are “Shucked” and “Kimberly Akimbo” and the “Rockette’s Christmas Spectacular”. So I need to get planning on that ASAP.

Also, a few friends and I have long-discussed starting a podcast so I am doing some groundwork to get us going before we launch in January. Be on the lookout for ”It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere” news and updates. I will keep you posted here as well.

Finally Possums, today is my dads birthday. He is an amazing man and a terrific father. If you know him (or even if you don't), join me and show him a little BIRTHDAY LOVE today.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, POP. I LOVE YOU! I hope you have a wonderful day.

New Wheelchair News: No change - still in limbo.

In KANKLE NEWS: Still puffy but not nearly as bad.

Anyhoozle, what are your plans today?

Whatever your day holds and whatever your plans may be, I wish you all a SPECTACULAR day. Do everything today with kindness in your heart. The world is full of kind people. If you can’t find one, be one!
